So I said I would take pictures and here they are. Still haven't done anything with the car yet, but I have high hopes.

The third gen gauges are awesome, probably the worst thing about the second gen is knowing I don't have those gauges.

Very nice. Those stickers kill the look though. Take them off.

    Re: Yokosilver's 1998 B4 RSK

Those aren't stickers - they are magnets. Car accidents are paid differently - both parties are responsible for part of the accident. New drivers, who are required to have those magnets, are less responsible for the accident. They are on the car to let others know, 'hey, this guy isn't a good driver, keep your space.' The same goes for elderly drivers. If you hit them, you have to pay a higher percentage of the total damage because you should have been paying more attention to how they were driving. I love the concept of warning people that the driver is inexperienced or elderly and can't see/hear as well.

Anyways, I will take them off before I take more pictures.

I know. My wife wanted them and put them on. She thought it was less than two years in country.

You can't really see it in the pictures, but the scoop has a bunch of scratches on it like someone tried to put something in it. I want to get some vinyl to cover it, especially after seeing how to do it in the DIY section. I think I want to upgrade the lights in the cluster, too. I don't see myself doing much other than the lights for now and maybe some clean up work. I don't know if I will be keeping this car for more than a few years so I don't want to put much money into it. I have been thinking of the possibility of taking it back to the states when I end my tour here, though.

Welcome, I have been stationed at Yokota for 2.5 years now, those magnets indicate that you have been driving here less than 1 year, I have spoken with multiple people on the subject of them, including JN's and Security forces, they are not required, just a CYA kind of thing, I never even used them, neither did my ex-wife while she was here. Nice ride, I have a 2000 B4 that I am going to get some pics of today and start a thread.

    Re: Yokosilver's 1998 B4 RSK 4/14 Mod List

Chad, there are plenty of subies to go around over here, so feel free to buy one here instead of trying to import yours. Really cheap, too. I picked mine up for 2650.

I took some pictures of the car after I washed and waxed it, but didn't get a chance to upload them. Nothing new, but I ordered some vinyl wraps to cover up some of the paint scratches on smaller parts. I also ordered some yellow film for my fog lights. I want to pull the grill off and try to clean the 'chrome' lip up.

    Re: Yokosilver's 1998 B4 RSK 4/21 Updated mod list

I have been looking into getting the car over when I leave here in a few years. Since the car is 14 years old now, it should be eligable to take out of the country when I leave. I am being conservative on how much I spend on the car until I find out if I can get it out of the country. The last thing I want to do is drop a few grand on it and then have to sell it in a few years for not much more than I paid for it. The cars on base in Yokosuka go for cheap. There are two more 3rd Gen B4s on the lot selling for $3500.

The age of a vehicle to be able to bring back is 25 years, not 20, I have looked into bringing back my car a few times. I found the info on the U.S. Customs website, you can't even bring one of our B4s back because in the states they did not come with the 2.0 Liter. Here is a website with the info for importing vehicles, http://www.bordercenter.org/chem/vehicles.htm. However, you can do like I am planning on doing, and taking the drivetrain, dash, firewall, etc... back to the states and doing the RHD conversion.

    Re: Yokosilver's 1998 B4 RSK 4/28 More Pics

Finally got more pictures to upload. Sorry about the wait on it.

This guy has been every vehicle I have owned.

The sweet CD/cassette stereo. You can also see where the stitching on the shifter is starting to come apart. I want to try and find a junk yard and pick up a new one or maybe even a Momo if I can find one.

Playing around with the yellow film. Didn't feel like taking the fogs off last night.

Also, I was playing around with the stereo and noticed that the tweeters didn't work. I pulled the door panels off and found that the connector was wrapped in electrical tape and just needed to be plugged in. Now all I need to worry about is getting the low end on my stereo and it will be good.

Working on a way around that little tid bit...

Crash, let me know if you do come down, maybe we can meet up or something. I know I will be heading up there in a couple of months to pick up a new guy, but I will be driving a govvy van, which is so much hotter than a Subie. Haha!

I'll definitely let you know, maybe get a photoshoot or something out there on the waterfront. Don't they have the bus that goes from here to Yokosuka? I'd probably still drive my car and just take the hit on the tolls if the guy was single, I prefer my car over a GOV any day.

I was thinking about that, crash, but I don't know how many bags he has since he is PCSing here. I would love to drive faster than 36 mph for more than 5 minutes. Haha. I could also give him the toll reciepts to put on his travel claims.

Thanks, chrish8r. The B4 RSK is actually a 'twin' turbo. It isn't really a twin turbo, it just has two. One for lower rpm and one for higher.

    Re: Yokosilver's 1998 B4 RSK 4/28 More Pics

Yeah, thats true. You know, before I changed my rims out our cars were identical, now I have different rims and I have blacked out my taillights since I made my Intro post, I need to get pictures of them as well as all the rest of my interior lights that I did, I'll work on that probably this weekend after I wash it.

As far as the speeds go, I know what you mean, I have actually hit higher speeds on base than I have off. We have a straightaway around the runway that is about 1.75 miles that I have hit 200 kph on, I've only hit about 140 or 150 off base (this was in my Mark 2 that I used to have). I have been told the cameras don't kick in till around 140 on the highways, but if they can't see your face than you won't get a ticket.

Actually at higher RPM they are both used together.

I know what you mean about crawling around at walking pace. :smt012
