    Cup holder ideas?

Does everyone here use the stock cup holders? Cause they kinda suck. I was trying to come up with other places to rig something up, but I couldn't come up with anything... Thoughts?

I agree, stock cup holders suck big time. Flimsy, bouncy, and can't hold a 20 oz bottle. I was toying with the idea of an add on or, an insert for the armrest.

I make my passenger hold my bottles. No passenger? I just put the bottle on the seat. cup holder works fine for me, and with a strip of velcro on the outside, a perfect place to mount my MP3 player.

I only use them if the cup is only half full, any more and you run the risk of spilling your drink all over the HVAC and radio.

It is a PITA when you have a 20oz bottle I agree, but in that case I throw it on the passenger seat.

I'll have to grab a picture of my cupholder setup. It works real nice, looks pretty decent too.

The cupholder that came in my 98L sucked. Two tiny holes that were the same size. I swapped it for a 99 outback holder that had one large holder and one medium. Plus it didnt have the stupid button on the front.

My 98gt cupholder has different sized holes. I usually use a small face towel to wedge into the holes and use it as a flap to cover the hvac whenever I get coffee. Who in their right mind would think that a slanted cup holder is a good thing???

I don't have a rear one. When did they start putting ones in the rear? When the GT came out?

    Pics, as promised:

It's very sturdy, holds pretty much any size (unless it's a huge 32oz or something) and folds up nicely.

I was just thinking about doing something like that, except on the door by my left leg. Looks good though!

I've found a pretty good solution!

At Target they have the "Euro Jr.", an adjustable cup holder for $3.99. I pickup one up and it fits perfectly next to my seat between the gear select and the parking brake. I'll post pictures once the batteries charge for my camera.

I've got a 97 GT, and I have no rear cupholders.

    Pictured in a friend's 89 Cressida

He clips on to the horizontal ribs of the AC vent. His head holds even large cups, and when you put something (other than fake flower pedals) in is a button at the bottom makes his hands and feet go up and down.

I would ever accept anything less.

I just use the stock ones. I agree, they suck, especially the location right above the HVAC controls and the radio, but they work. Make sure the lid is on your 20 oz bottle tightly, and stick in the the cupholder "upside down". Just don't corner too fast with a big cup of coffee in there.....
