    Still here! :P

Better weather, more time and a few extra buck$ have got me movin' again!!

Rolled her out of the garage to get some air a few weeks ago.

    And then...it began.

Traded for a non-scooped hood. Much sleeker look IMO for what I'm going for. Started to prep it. Fenders too!

Paint has now been laid down! Courtesy of Dead91silvia

Hood, Grill, Front Bumper and Front Spats are pretty well prepped for paint as well thanks to Dead91silvia as well. After those are done then its on to the Rear Bumper, Rear Spats, Spoiler, Hood Hinges and then all removable parts will have been completed. Shooting for Late-June...Early July to have the rest of the vehicle taken to Robin's place to do the rest of the car.

All hail dead's skill!. Parts look great! Put em on! Did you see the way WPEC mounted his skirts? I think he used his own hardware so that the skirts can be removed if need be with a hex bolts! Keep us posted.

Ok, I have a silly question that I just HAVE to ask:

If you were painting the entire car, why id you paint the hood and fenders before the body got color? I could see cutting them in if they were a different color and hanging them for paint, or even painting them off the car at the same time, The plastic parts no big deal since they usually dont match anyway due to paint curing different on plastic vs metal.

But yeah, I cant wait to see it done!

The reason is my shop is hella small for one and two, I remember what air pressure and how many coats I have done. I would prefer to do the whole body at the same time, however, I dont have the facilities. I have done a number of completes over the years in this manner and each one turns out great. Any time it's a metallic, I do worry about paint match, but with this car, everything looks fantastic for match. Now I just need to cut a buff the paint to take out some dirt and orange peal. I have painted a lot of cars in here, only a few have not matched and most of the time it's the actual basecoat mix that is the problem.

Oh I wasn't doubting your results Dead. From all the paint photos I have seen of yours you know what you are doing. I wouldn't be nearly as concerned about "color match" as I would be the flop in the metallic. I mean using A well maintained booth, I have seen mis match on panels when painting a car taken apart in a booth all at the same time due to variations in booth temps from side to side. Metallic can be a bitch, especially if the flake is uncooperative. The worst are Matte finish parts. Because how it cures is how it looks. you cant do anything about dust, gloss, or any imperfections other then re spraying the clear if you can save it. Harley Denim colors are the worst. We actually refused to spray any more because of sheen variation between parts all sprayed at the same time. It doesnt help that I live in Phoenix and the average daily temp is 110*F right now. Not optimal painting conditions.

But yeah. I really cannot wait to see the finished product. I hate the green on my only non Bubble roof Legacy, but from the photos I have seen... Fresh paint might actually be a good looking color!

LOL... I know what you mean for sure. There is a very slight variation on the flop, but you would have to be a painter to notice. Even at that, I'm thinking that most of it has to do with the different in the amount of orange peal, so most of it will clear up when I cut and polish.

I'm about to do the mirrors, wing, and spats. Hoping I can get them sprayed tomorrow, but we will see. Andrew sanded the rear bumper for me so it should be ready for primer and then paint. Should have it all done here really soon. =)

That is excellent. I very much look forward to seeing the car complete and polished!. There is a reason my friends do not bring me their new cars and ask me what I think... Because I tell them and in most cases show them prior repairs or issues that they are not trained to look for.

LOL... so funny how "Top Secret" you are about your car, Andrew...

We started to cut and polish today. It's going to look very pretty when it's all done. I cant wait to see peoples reactions.
