Need some feedback... for my project car.

Ok, so many of you have seen my Volvo project, many have not. I work on it when I feel like it (in other words when I dont feel burned out on it).

Today I'm prepping the cut-ins on my right side doors and I then get distracted thinking about the dash. I just sold the old motor and that money was to go for some new gauges. Now keep in mind, I'm going to have Carbon Fiber door panels inside the car and the car will be painted black...

I was dead set on Auto Meter Carbon fiber gauges because I love the look, but then another thought crossed my mind...

Original play was Carbon face gauges, with an aluminum face.

Ok, now I have a new idea... Same layout, but with a Carbon Fiber face with black or white gauges faces... What do you guys think...

    This is the layout...

I say carbon gauges with the aluminum face. I really like the look of plain aluminum. Plus, you can easily add other lights/gauges to it, and it makes stuff stand out more.

I voted. I tend to not like reflective surfaces as the primary surface in the cluster (or anywhere on the dash) so I'd stay away from the brushed or polished Aluminum. White is a nice contrast on the gauge faces. Always liked the white faces on the Civic clusters.

If they had all the ones I need in the black face, that would be slick...

The only way I would do white is if the face panel carbon. I'm not really a fan of white face gauges though...

Re: Need some feedback... for my project car.

I would go match it to the doors, seeing as you've gone carbon there I'd go carbon on the cluster.

It's obvious that the carbon face on the meters is fake so I'd avoid it, better to use carbon for the surround IMO.

If that's the case then probably a nice idea to have contrasting gauge faces, if available you could match them to an accent colour you plan on using, like if you plan on red stitching, red gauges. White goes no matter what really, so does black and although it might sound dull and uninteresting I think it could look really good, subtle.

    1. carbon + black
    2. carbon + white (or other colour)
    3. carbon + carbon (I would want it to match perfectly or it would annoy me every time Iooked at it)

I think someone did a stainless face and said the glare was unbearable. I voted carbon and black but I really think you should use what you have there in your pic.
