Ok, so I felt it was time to do a thread for the little Yota... I do have 8 cars/trucks as of now
So the story of this little truck is kinda cool! I was just starting my new small mechanic business and need something for getting parts and the BD was not the right car for the job. No picking up V8's with that thing! So I hit Craigs list...
After a few weeks of looking for the right rig and about to give up, I accidentally found this 1994 Toyota pick up listed for $300. I thought "thats gotta be gone by now, the add is 2 hours old"... I sent the guy an email, but didnt expect much. I got an email back and he said he would give me a call when he could and then also asked why I mentioned God in my email (it's in my signature and everyone gets it). I just said I he has helped me lots and I tell who I can and sometimes even forget its in there.
He called the same day and I asked about the body, he said it was solid. I asked about the motor, he said it ran. Then I asked why it was $300 and he said "it needs a transmission, but I'm not sure yet, I'm having the shop look at it". I said I would come get it that day and had the cash and didnt want someone else to get it. He insisted that he wanted it checked out. I said ok..
2 weeks later I was about to give up on this guy selling me his truck and I get a call... (when did you want to pick it up? They say it needs a clutch of a trans... Just wanted to make sure it wasnt worse then that." I told him I would be there in an hour. I hooked up my trailer and drove out to get it. I looked it over listened it to run. It needed a timing chain kit (sounded horrible, but typical of 22RE's but still a good motor), the body was solid other then a rusted bumper and minor body damage on the front end.
Now here is the cool part. This guy got it bran new in 94 in Maine. He was there for 2-3 years and then moved to Seattle, so it missed out on most of the rust problems. It had 339K original miles on her! NEVER had the motor out! Had a canopy already and I needed one. He told me that he felt it was going to a good home and he liked the fact I have faith in God (sorry if you guys feel this is preaching, just part of the story). I told him I would give him updates on it and that it was going to a good home.
What was wrong with it.... ? A cracked clutch fork, cost of $26 from Toyota and 1 days work!
Ok... I talked way too much...
The truck is a 1994 Toyota Base model standard cab, 22RE 2.4, 5 speed. The only options it came with was carpet and a rear slider. I have had it since March 2010. She gets 22-27 MPG all the time! Better then my BD!
Motor/trans:
stock: new timing set (broken guilds, typical), plugs (they were really bad!), cap and rotor when I got it.
Body:
92-95 Toyota 4Runner front end conversion
power SR5 4 Runner mirrors (not wired yet)
DLX/SR5 doors... different style mirrors...
Replaced rear OEM rear bumper with Chrome and also hitch.
Jerco Canopy
Yakima Control tower rack (bad ass! I love this thing!)
Wheels and tires:
15" 1990 Jeeps mesh wheels custom painted by myself(moderns) with Fuzion HRi's (frist setup)
Skyline GTS-T 16" wheels... crappy tires... 1-1/4" spacers (current setup as of Sep-12)
Interior:
94 4Runner dash conversion
94 tilt steering column with intermittent wipers
94 Limited Leather 4Runner steering wheel
SR5 interior door panels
SR5 instrument cluster
SR5/4Runner map lights
Kenwood head unit
2 Pioneer 4" speakers (not a rocking system like the Leggy.. haha)
Day I got it!
Yep... Gotta love 22RE's!
