Stock LGT Engine cover. Perfect condition!
Test fit: Nothing trimmed or moved at all yet.
Factory cut out on the intake pipe did not extend far enough back.
Main portion that needed trimming. Hitting the throttle body.
Trimmed for the intake on my vehicle.
Took out the 1" section that was hitting the throttle body. MUCH better clearance.
Rear mounting solution (for now). 1" aluminum strip that was twisted and bent to reach the back two holes. Flimsy and wiggles around a bit but, that might be OK with how much the cover makes contact with the underside of the hood insulation when closing the hood. :/
Metal Tape to keep the heat away from the cover. So close to the engine and close to the hood I want to protect it a bit.
Installed!
Trimmed for the intake. Felt tape on the underside so it doesnt rub on the throttle cable.
*Custom aluminum bracket I made to mount off the power steering pump bolt. It will do for now I think and also allows for the play I need to compress the cover down when closing the hood.
Is it a perfect fit? No.
Is it pretty darn close? Yes!
I'm happy I did this mod and I hope this helps others not be scared off by it! I searched and could not find a decent write up on this install so....here one is! :P
NEXT: Trying decide between a Plexi Glass panel, mesh screen or something to block the square hole. I will probably go with a tinted plexi glass piece cut for me at lowes and I will rivet or screw it in place nicely to cover up the intake tube.
