Gorgeous, except I'm not a fan of that grill or the big silver windshield tint line. That exhaust looks downright mean. So is it turbo'ed yet? Or in progress?

Re: '99 Silver LGT 5MT Turbo.

I always had a crazy notion of having that type of hood, without the usual subaru scoop, and just the vent in the front part of the hood, and then doing a V mount intercooler setup after a swap.

Re: '99 Silver LGT 5MT Turbo.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone.

I'll upload some engine pics some time soon. Today if I get the chance (While I'm at work. )

And yes, the turbo is already installed and everything seems to be working fine. I do, however, need to tune my PP SMT-6 for speed density to rid myself of this nasty MAF issue. Otherwise, no problems at all.

The hood, as 2.5GT mentioned, is a custom dual-vent VIS carbon fiber with the STi scoop. I originally ordered a hood that was a carbon fiber version of the stock hood but they didn't have any available and offered me this hood for the same price. I do like the way it looks and the STi scoop certainly provides good air to my TMIC but the front vent can be a little annoying in crappy weather. Not that it matters all that much...

As far as the grille goes, it's definitely coming off soon. I'm going back to my stock grille after I gut, paint and mesh it at a buddy's shop.

And those chrome things on my fenders aren't actually deer whistles. They're road line marker lights. In Japan the roads can be so slender that a lot of cars use these lights as a reference to the line on the road to make sure they are as close to the line as possible.

Thanks, Huffer. I'll edit my first post with a mods list as soon as I get a chance.

I am so loving this hood :smt055

This hood would be label under "V Line" according to VIS right?

and is it direct bolt on? I see that you have hood pins, is it possible to do without? and use the stock hood hinge?

As far as I know, yes. The hood is the "V Line" model based on the description I see. You can save some cash getting it at visracingkits.com I think too. It is a direct bolt-on factory replacement. No modification needs to be done at all. You can use the stock hoods latch and screw it directly into the VIS hood and latch it just like normal. I use the hood pins as a backup in case the stock latch were ever to give while at higher speeds as it is known to happen. I would seriously recommend hood pinning /ANY/ carbon fiber hood to avoid watching it rip off and fly down the road behind you. Especially after spending roughly 1K USD on it.

Re: '99 Silver LGT 5MT Turbo.

The more i look at your hood, the more i want it now

how much of a difference is the CF hood vs. the OEM hood?

and i really hate the idea of hood pins, it makes it so "cluttered" with it on.

Re: '99 Silver LGT 5MT Turbo.

The difference is pretty huge weight-wise. The stock hood weighs close to 50 lbs. while the CF hood weighs nearly have that I believe at 28 lbs.

Actually, I wanted to use different hood pins that were somewhat hidden. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of room where the Leggy's hood goes across the cross member so you kind of need to use standard, old-school style hood pins. Although, I don't mind them. The old-school, hotrod style stuff is awesome.

I paid roughly $3,700 for everything. It produces (at 6psi boost) around 100+ more HP to the crank. On a stock 2.5GT that would put you somewhere around 265 HP to the crank and about 210-220 to the wheels.

Haha. Yep! Although, I MIGHT be changing them at some point. I really want to get some custom stuff done. Mainly just the lighting so hopefully I can keep the CF gauge faces. But, the green and red lights drive me nuts... I want white and blue I think. I'll figure something out.

Re: '99 Silver LGT 5MT Turbo.

Nope. Haven't tried anything yet. Although, the funny thing is, I was thinking the EXACT same thing about the sanding. I've looked at the gauge faces a few times trying to come up with ideas. As far as sharpieing the bulbs, I would probably just buy the proper colored bulbs and toss those in. Not sure how long the sharpie ink will last based on the temp of the lights.

This depends highly on what engine you're doing this on, but most of them are very similar. Mine is the EJ25 and here's how I did it...

The oil feed for the turbo goes into the galley hole underneath the alternator on top of the block. There's an oil temp or pressure sensor there already, so you need to get a split adapter for it. The water lines are located on the bottom back side of the throttle body just to the right of center (left of center if looking at the engine from the front.) It is one small, 8"-ish length hose that you remove. Then, simply connect each water line to the turbo. Which goes where doesn't matter as it only circulates through. If you're still confused, I can try to take some pictures or something, just let me know. Hope this helps!

Thanks! And I absolutely love the kit. Makes all the difference in the world. Although, running it at 6psi just makes me want to run more boost.
