    Lancaster6's 04 USDM Lancaster6 - Stuff and Things

What's up SL-i, this is my second Subaru and second Legacy Outback wagon. I picked up this BH from a dealer out in Ewing, NJ in the summer of 2012. She had about 90,000 miles and change on the clock when I drove it off the lot. This has been quite the journey with this car, and I have learned a great deal about what makes this car tick. This site has already been an invaluable tool as far as maintenance and knowledge goes, and I can't wait to learn even more!

That onstar delete is kind of a pain.. I found that the radio module made it difficult to remove the stack, and the onstar cpu module had short cables. It was the first thing I did to the car, but so far the button panel is still in there as its filling up the hole.

Having those modules out, make it significantly easier to work in and around the stack and dashboard.

It looks like a pain, but I was able to track down a thread from subaruoutback.org with at least a few pictures detailing what needs to be removed. I'll tackle taking it out eventually. My buddy likes pressing all the buttons to see if he gets a response. Grrr lol

Thanks! They came with the car, but I don't think they ever came on the Outback as an option? Not sure.

I actually joined after the meet last January so I could see everyone's pictures, then I went back to school and forgot I joined! But thank you! I'm browsing your journal and it's impressive, can't wait to see what you do with the new gauge cluster.

That's what I was thinking Huffer, I've never seen an Outback come with them. I thought either Baja or Forester. There's a guy down the street from me with an H6 and his has the five spokes with the little spokes in between that all of the H6's seem to come with (if that makes sense lol). But I like these wheels a lot better.

Yep, they're def Baja wheels - in 06 the Baja got those wheels in gunmetal. I have a set from my old wagon that I got as a trade. I like the look more - more truckish, purposeful, tough.

I have some mods for you that are super simple and make such a difference:

    1. Honda Pilot rear wiper mod - see the DIY section
    2. Fumoto Oil Drain valve - makes oil changes a cinch, and basically tool-less
    3. Tint the windows? 35% minimum on the rear windows, go for at least 50% on the front doors.
    4. JDM outer tail lights
    5. SL-i.net decal - PM me I'll hook you up!

Thats clean! And a nice color combo!

Would you mind posting pics of the Yakima basket mounts? I have the basket, but for the life of me cant figure out the mounts, short of getting them from Yakima.

We have similar tastes my friend. Tint will be done over winter break most likely, just because it's pricey and I'll be working again. I'll certainly look into the Honda Pilot Wiper mod, and after doing an oil change I may just get that Fumoto valve. Anything to speed up the process is cool in my book. I want JDM tails so badly, they look so much cleaner than the USDM ones. I find them on eBay for around $100-$200 shipped so if I find a good deal I'll pick up a set. Are they plug and play? And PM will be sent in a second!

Thank you! And I don't have the Yakima Basket anymore, I sold it to a friend. However I'll look and see if I have any pictures or parts leftover from the basket. If I dont I'll ask her to snap some photos for me.

I've seen those wheels on other 03-04 Outbacks around here. Could be a dealer option.

Well my Hella Supertones just arrived at my house, so I'll be installing those this weekend I'll also see how the car looks with plasti dipped wheels. Tint is coming eventually, with some other things here and there that I'll figure out as time goes on. I'm not good at planning, as seen in this post lol.

Thanks! I was flipping through the pictures I have from the meet, and there are two SVXs parked awkwardly by the entrance! Haha I think I met you though. But I'm so bad at remembering names and faces so please forgive me

So I was playing around in Photoshop and decided to see what the wagon would look like with tint and dipped wheels...here is the result:

I'm definitely thinking 35% for the fronts. I had 18% on my last BH and it was perfect. Slightly tough backing up, but the brake/reverse lights made it doable.

The Hella's were mounted and they are amazing. I giggled like a schoolgirl when I first honked them. I kept one stock horn to balance the high pitch of the Hellas and it's perfect. Install was super easy too
I mounted the Hellas in the stock horn mount for the BH and it worked like a charm

    Mounted, seen through the grille

Video (I hope this works) and the second clip is of the supertones. There's only one beep because they scared my dog (who was in the house!)

These were bought with the relay from subimods.

    Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon(SLi Goodies)

Sorry these aren't very awe inspiring mods School keeps me pretty busy so the weekends are really all I have, which are normally pretty busy too. Anyway Huffer hooked me up with some decals so I can represent the forum, thanks man! They look great!

I think my tensioner bearing is going out, I started her up after a few days of sitting and it sounded like an angry cricket under the hood. This is apparently and issue for the EZ30 engines so I'll be looking at replacing that soon!

Haha I was working on my car this past weekend, and I laid on my horn by accident and nearly gave this poor girl a heart attack.

    Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon(SLi Goodies)

So I get back on campus from a short drive today, and as I park I press the button for the front sunroof to go down. Well one "ker-thunk" later the sunroof is closed, and now stays closed. I hear the motor working when I press the "open" switch, and the back sunroof opens without fuss. It sounds as if the front one slipped off the track . I'm going out to try to see what happened and if anything could be done to remedy it. Not a huge problem, I'd rather this go than something major (even though I'd like nothing to break in the first place...) Anyone else have any issues with this?

Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon (Plasti dipped wheels)

So I finally got around to plasti dipping my wheels over the weekend. I've never worked with plasti dip before this so the front wheels were subjected to my amateurness first. They came out alright, I'll be looking to redo them soon though. The back wheels, however, look like sex, and I was very pleased with how they came out lol. By the time it was finished the sun had gone down so I got an alright night shot, I hope to get out and take a few photos of the car soon!

    Plasti dip action:

Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon (New Grille)

Today, my fancy and shiny new to me L7 grille arrived at my stoop. Fresh out of Japan! I wasted no time in installing it. The look, well is awesome in my opinion. It also shows off the supertones a bit better

Damnit man. Seeing your car makes me want an OB even more now. I was hunting for one when I found my GT wagon (which I love but cant really go offroading w/ it). I think you need a little lift....
