That single line through the middle of the grille makes it look a lot cleaner up front.

Haha thanks! I do love my Outback. The H6 sits pretty high as it is, I'll probably leave it be since the days of offroading in an outback are behind me. Maybe one day I'll consider dropping it a little...not sure though.

That's funny, I thought the exact same thing when I stepped back to take a look at it. I agree 100%. I was worried that it would look weird on an OB when I bought it...so glad I went ahead and got it.

Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon (Onstar Delete, Other b

Noticed that I haven't updated this in a while! School has me busy again. This weekend I'm in the process of dismantling the dash to get the god awful Onstar module out. It was a pain in the ass finagling it out of the slot and trying to get all the random connectors unhooked, but I prevailed over the outdated and no longer supported GM trash.

Pic of the dismantling in progress:

I also received some LEDs in the mail, those will be going into the instrument cluster tomorrow! In addition to the LEDs, I'll be eventually installing a Whiteline 20mm RSB. I wish it could have gone on the car sooner but due to some inattentiveness on both mine and the seller's part, I have a rear sway that will not fit the BH in my bedroom. I'll be getting the correct one soon! Lastly...I'll be receiving a small yet special part from a member here soon...

That Onstar delete makes getting in and out of the dash so much easier. I was surprised how many parts there were to it when I finally got around to removing mine..

It's insane how much is jammed back there for that module. I had to remove the bezel that goes around the instrument gauges so I could shimmy the stack out. There's a small pile in the passenger foot well...iirc I have the Onstar faceplate, the weird metal box that goes behind that, and that flat piece that was bolted to the top of the heater controls out. Definitely got some more room to move around behind the radio now!

Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon (LED goodness)

Today I finished up the onstar delete, I have a nice empty pocket there for my sunglasses and other nonsense I didn't have space for before. In addition to that, I replaced the bearings in the idler/tensioner pulleys. Lastly, I pulled the instrument cluster out and put new blue LEDs in it. It certainly looks better than the green that was in there before!

Old on the left, new on the right.

If you dont mind me asking, what bulbs did you use for the cluster and where did you purchase them from?

Thanks guys, I'm definitely enjoying the change. I drove back to school last night and found that they're not distracting at all when the lights aren't set to full brightness.

I just replaced the lights in my instrument cluster, so the bulbs I needed for my 04 BH Outback were 2 T1.5-xHP bulbs and 4 WLED-x4 bulbs, and I got them from superbrightleds.com

H6 wagons are so win. Not nearly as win as those blue LEDs in the instrument cluster though. I found my next minor purchase! Looks awesome man, keep it up!

Thanks!! It's coming along, slowly but surely. In the upcoming weeks I'll have some more parts to put on, some performance/handling increasing stuff, some aesthetically pleasing things, and of course some ghetto fabulous bits. Can't wait!

Exactly! I won an EZ Lip, you know one of those overpriced garage door seals that people stick to their bumpers, and it came in the mail not too long ago. I'll throw it on one weekend and see how it looks. Also need to get a JDM doorstop to wedge in my sunroof to keep it open, since it no longer functions properly and I miss having it open

I got these around Christmastime and I forgot to add these to the journal. It really stands out and makes it look like a different car from the back. Another worthwhile mod!

Also, a couple pictures from yesterday.

Re: cglock25's 2004 Outback H6 Wagon (Debadge and Rebadge)

I recently received a very nice "Lancaster" badge from the one and only MrLancaster. Today I started to debadge the tailgate in preparation of the new badge. I still have to clay the tailgate as there is a very faint outline of the old badges. Its the exact same issue rkrenicki ran into, and probably many others have run into.

Finished up mounting the new badge today. Looks great and its a subtle difference in the sea of Outbacks we have around here. Also got some snow hooning time today too!

I personally think a "Piston 6" would look good under that.

That was what I was going to do with my badges before I got my hands on the RS30 one.

That's definitely a sexy looking badge if I do say so myself. I really wanted a Lancaster6 badge but I have never seen one of those for sale. Plus I got a good deal on this one, I guess it adds a "sleeper" effect haha.

Now that I think about it I think about it, am I going to have the only A-C Type front end out of all the BE/BHs at this SL-i meet?!

I spent a long time looking for a Lancaster 6 myself and never found one. Mine would have ended up as a Lancaster and Piston 6 if it were not for Yama having the RS30 one.

I don't think you will be the only one, but I think you might be in the minority, hah!

We are few, we are proud, we are A-C Type owners! Haha. I'll just get to see what I dream of my car looking like, so it's a win win.

That's awesome that you were able to find the RS30 badging, I think it looks a lot better than the Lancaster badge would have!

I'm actually pretty impressed you found a Lancaster badge! I know they are rather uncommon.

Re: cglock25's 2004 USDM Lancaster6 (Debadge and Rebadge)

Try as I might, I could not find an RS30 or Lancaster6 badge anywhere. If it was not for Yama having it, I do not think I would have ever gotten my hands on one.

The Lancaster (non-6) badge is pretty hard too, I have found two in my searches over the months, one of which I bought and just recently sold. The other one was gold in color.

Thank you! I appreciate it! Its coming together slowly but surely. When Tanner sent me a text saying he'd sell the Lancaster badge to me I hopped on it pretty quickly. I've never seen one for sale before that and I wouldn't know when the next opportunity would present itself!

I'm actually surprised that these are so hard to find. I figure the badges would make some good profit for the japanese sellers...Pull some badges of a few wrecked Legacies, mark them up a bit, then spare a few dollars to ship em overseas. That's alright though, I like that they're hard to find. Makes them that much more unique!

I'm glad this one isn't gold. When held at the right angle it has a bit of a green sparkle to it. Looking at it straight on it looks black. Love it!

There are two badges separating me from full "Lancasterification." These two badges are the "Outback" badges on the side trim, seen in the picture below. (The LL Bean emblems are off as of now). According to rkrenicki and other sources, when these are popped off there are only indentations in the trim not holes that pass through. This leads me to my conundrum, do I pop them off and live with the divots underneath for a bit, then get them patched, or would it be fairly easy and asthetically pleasing with a bit of Bondo and some touch up paint (I'm thinking no on that option), or another route? I'm open to suggestions as I've currently hit a dead end.

I finally got to give it a bath today! I can't even remember when the last time it was clean, nor what shade of white it was. I also peeled the plasti dip off the wheels since it was looking pretty sore. Still getting used to the shiny wheels and car

Also, I won a free EZ Lip (you know, that DIY lip that that costs like $30 or something ridiculous like that) and I decided to stick it on for kicks and giggles. I don't know if I like it...part of me does, and the other part thinks it looks like crap. It may have to come off by the end of the weekend...lol
