    r3v_v3ng3's 97 outback ()

I got this 97 legacy outback for $500 (could of put the money to my gt but with this price I couldn't refuse). The only problem is that it needs a new engine. There's a hole in the block. Body is straight, manual transmission and over 200k miles. The interior is clean but missing little pieces like window switches.

    Interior: stock
    Exterior:
    LGT rear bumper

    Wheels/tires: stock
    Chassis/suspension: stock suspension

    Engine: rebuilt 96 ej25d with 97-99 pistons

    Drivetrain: ebay stage 2 clutch

Future plans: My friend and I split on this legacy wagon with lots of goodies and I will be installing lots of cool stuff on it. Wait and see

Now this will be more of my daily when I have it running. As far as future plan for the car, it'll be lowered, intake/exhaust and some jdm stuff. It won't be as crazy like my GT but it'll definitely a backup car!

You know.... I have to manually push it since the engine is blown lol

Anyways pulled the engine out today. Guess the engine been change before since this one seems to be from attarco motors.
(I don't know whats going on with photobucket but when I upload the pic it was vertical and now its sideways even after i edited it and saved it, still the same!!!!

    Things to do:
Tear down the engine to see whats salvageable (hope the heads are but i doubt it)
    Clean the engine bay
Also need to order a new clutch and resurface the flywheel since its burnt and unequal wear

Nice! Cant wait to see the 'other' parts installed!

I had a 97 that was a 5 speed OB and it was pretty fun!

Hey, let me know if you dont need the driver side head, I might be interested.

They are! Love pulling out the motor since its easy. I only charged my friend a venti starbucks last time we pulled his out lol. Yeah doing a turbo on my bd right now but did a big fail in the beginning lol (thats why its taking so long). But if you stick with the stock turbo setup you should be golden

Thanks. Only thing is that I want to lower it but I noticed this things (outbacks) have the chassis spacers on em. Hopefully coilovers can cure em. Started to dismantle the engine early but didn't have the right tool to remove the heads (breaker bar). Even the 1/2 inch electric impact gun can't break loose the bolts

    ^^ Looks great

Ok here is the parts car that I was talking about. 95 legacy wagon with lots of GOODIES
    its auto 175,xxx miles
    salvage title
car runs but he hit a curb. needs a (driver) lower control arm/tie rods/strut. We have our stock wheels to swap later also
bought it for $850 in antelope (sacramento area) and had it towed back 90 miles from home. Gotta love AAA
My friend and I split it so 425 each.

    here is the damage

Were gonna take all the stuff we want and swap our stock stuff on it and then resell it back for about the same amount or more. Basically we'll have the parts for free

Are you kidding me?! RFRB spoiler? JDM bump strips? WRX seats front AND rear?! Lots of other awesome things on this car. Looks like someone put in some time to JDM this car out.

Idk how you will split all the stuff with someone else, I'd want everything for myself! Great find.

So freaking jealous of that deal. Two Legacy's for $1400 and a whole lot of nice jdm/aftermarket stuff.

Thanks. Yup very lucky although I won't be able to slap on the spoiler until i get the whole car painted. Yeah whoever owned it before did put alot of jdm stuff on it.

Well luckily, me and him talked about what we wanted out of it first before we purchased it. I'll be getting majority of it since I have the outback lol

Thanks fellahs. I will have a list of the cool stuff thats on the car that were keeping. Keep in mind that we can sell the legacy back for the same price and break even, basically have all this stuff for free. Or I should take the engine off and install it to the outback. its 2.2 instead of the 2.5 but its dual port. Hmmmm decisions decisions

That is a lot of JDM stuf indeed. And nice to see it will be actually getting put on a BG!

And 2.2 is superior, pop proper heads on it and make it rev to 7.5, or even 8K, sorted. Can't do that with a 2.5!

Yes. The only thing that stopping me from doing the 2.2 from the wagon is that I have to smog the car and if the smog technician checks the engine and its not a 2.5 he's gonna fail me. The second is that it's harder to sell the car parts by parts, easier to sell it as a running car.

Re: r3v_v3ng3's $500 97 legacy outback (wagon parts car)

Okay here's the list of goodies from the white car

    what i'm taking:
    jdm headlights
    jdm taillights
    jdm sidemarkers
    jdm spoiler
jdm legacy kick plates and the rear bumper padding
    gt rear bumper/lip
    hella fog lights
    cargo cover
    headliner with sunglass console
    gt side skirt
    cat back exhaust
all this is going to my outback

plus..... the carpet for my gt and its very subtle and overlooked but the car came with the jdm flat side moldings!!!!! definitely completes the jdmness for my GT lol

    what my friend is taking:
    jdm front bumper/bumper support
    strut bar
    jdm grill
    gt hood
    jdm power folding heated mirrors
    interior (woodgrain interior/door panel/dash/steering wheel)
wrx seats (traded my sedan one for his wagon)
    stainless steel brake lines

Unclaimed for and probably gonna sell
hell supertones (not really a fan)
    wheels
the suspension (it actually has a nice drop on it so i don't know what springs they are)

Seems like i got the better of the bargain lol. So were gonna be transferring our parts to the donor car and then i'll paint match it so it can go back to the market.

Would you ship the wheels? I'd be interested if you would and wanted to sell 'em.

As far as the wheels go, the one that got hit is unuseable (bent). So only 3 is useable not a full set so I don't think you'd want em
