    GTDrifter's new toy - Honda CBR600F4I

My fiance wanted to get rid of her 03 eclipse before we moved so we wouldn't have to worry about moving a third car as well so she put it on craigslist. About an hour later some kid texted her offering to trade his bike for it. We all looked over each others vehicles and the trade was set. The titles were transferred saturday so now the fiance and I have this bike to play with. Its a 2001 Honda CBR600F4I and we made an agreement to ride with sense and not like an idiot like most riders we see do. I only have one pic right now because someone keeps parking their towtruck infront of the shed

So far it has a D&D exhaust and aftermarket front/rear turn signals and mirrors.

Always ride with respect, respect the roads, the bike and the clowns in the cars around you. Always be on the defensive, even the most responsible can take a dump. Check out my 91 GSXR MR thread.

Good luck with the bike, those CBR's are nice bikes, and I love the sound of D&D pipes!

we traded her 2003 eclipse straight up. its not insured, licensed, or registered as it is too cold to ride and once the weather starts to get warmer were moving to a different state so we'll just learn to ride and get our license but hold off putting our bike on the road until after we move. its cheaper that way

You cant tax a trade. That's the reasoning I suppose, even though you probably pay title fees and DMV fees as well. Probably also to reduce fraud in some way. At least you get to set a price for it. the DMV in WV charges tax based on the lowest KBB figure.

the notary tried that we were just gonna be even 1k for each vehicle then but he looked at the value of the car and said no way until we said it needed a lot of work

also, i sold a car to a friend of mine and the notary (different one) said "oh you two look like good friends, I'll just write it as a gift" somehow this other notary didn't wanna do it that way. I'm guessing he wanted to get paid

    Re: GTDrifter's new toy - Honda CBR600F4I

Oh man.. before you take that thing out on the road i suggest you take the motorcycle safety course your state has to offer. well worth the $120bux it cost. One of the best things I ever did. You need to be thinking about more than just how to ride when you are on the road, and with a bike like that.. i wish you luck! I would definitely pick up some proper gear too man. Leather jacket, helmet, gloves, etc.

As they say, there are only 2 types of riders: those who have gone down, and those who are going to go down.

Good luck, and keep both wheels down!

    Re: GTDrifter's new toy - Honda CBR600F4I

^ I 100% agree with this. Having been riding for 13 years (on the road) and years before that on dirt, proper training, and proper gear are a must. That is a lot of bike to get on the road with, especially when you will be having some you love with you. I don't want to see any squid photos... Ok, parental ranting complete. Enjoy the riding! I can't wait to get mine out. Had a teaser here around Detroit... it was 65* out... today, 35* and snowing. WTF?!?!

    Re: GTDrifter's new toy - Honda CBR600F4I

Yeah I'm gonna take the course and supposedly its free here. It'll also give me a discount on insurance. I am well aware of the dangers of riding and will not be riding like a complete moron but accidents do happen.

I'm a firefighter and reported to one really bad bike accident. Big boss went full throttle into a garage. Needless to say I will not be doing that with mine.

I am kind of nervous about riding it since I've only went 6mph in my storage shed lot. Luckily my fiance is light enough that you can't even tell she's on the back.

Good choice on taking the course. Its great.. and a lot of fun really! Definitely pick up proper gear. I get stuff from motorcyclegear.com and motorcyclesuperstore.com .. both have really good clearance deals and good gear for cheap!

Hope you get out there riding safe and have fun!

    Re: GTDrifter's new toy - Honda CBR600F4I

lol I still remember that course. I hated the low speed turn... (3' wide path with 90* turn). One of the things I practiced (thanks to the guys on FZ6.com) was emergency stopping. In a clear parking lot. Just start small. 15 to 0, 25 to 0, 35 to 0, etc. I was surprised at how much better I felt on the road knowing that from 35, I(lol wanted that underlined) could stop the bike in 50 feet. Not some expert, ME. I really liked that.

Motorcycle got out here safe and sound last weekend. Rode it around the apartment complex. Pissed off my neighbors and had fun getting to actually shift it. Still no license, insurance, registration lol.
