Whaaaat?!? When Godzilla is driven by a proper driver, it is lethal. There's a reason they were banned from the Bathurst raceway in Australia...domination.

    ^ This, yes, true!

Locally here in Seattle, there is a 600+ WHP S14 with an RB26. Has got beat by an S13 with a RB20 (mild build, 250whp), a mild built Civic, and out race by a POS S13 with a N/A KA twin cam. It's all in driving. I lost to a type R with m Silvia, but for one it was a type R and the guy was a better driver.

Most of racing is the person behind the wheel.

i dont like cars that have so many computers it barely needs a driver, let alone a skilled one. the gtr to me is a ps3 on wheels, most racing drivers that arent getting payed to talk it up say its boring but fast. driving fast properly is supposed to take a lifetime of love and dedication to the skill of driving/racing, it shouldn't be a flip of a couple switches and your as fast as the professional racers and test drivers that developed it. and its way to heavy...

i dont think racing in a straight line is that difficult
yes it requires a bit of practice, but compared to circuit tracks and rally its a doddle.

By that logic I take it you think the entire Mitsubishi Evolution line-up is the PSP then?

    Re: "it's just a little 4 cylinder"

If your talking about the R-35, yes it's heavy and everyone says thats, but it still broke the record at Nurburgring that the Porsche set. Thats something to me... In all truth, how many cars are fun? My Legacy is not even close to the fun I had in my Silvia, or even my 1970 Volvo 142 I had. Hell, my 83 Celica was more fun! Also, a good driver does not talk a lot of time to learn, it will come natural. It's a skill not all have. How many videos have you seen where rich morons show off and crash a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Supra, Vette, or anything fast or expensive? How about that Bugatti that drive into a lake! That took lack of skill and that was, what, a 2 million dollar car...? Driving takes skill and also knowledge of the car you are driving.

As for computers, ALL cars have them now. Not our 2nd gens, but not many did at that time anyway. Look at Subaru now and they have the same stuff most others do. New Corollas have 11 computers in them.

Having said all that, I have a buddy of mine at church that has a 800+ whp 2000 Integra Type R. He has a vid of beating a Ferrari 360 and he had 3 people in his car. He also races a 70's Challenger with 900whp at the drag strip... has a little bit of skill...

That was not all in a straight line... the KA powered S13 that outran the RB26 S14 was in a section with a LOT of corners, a place my friends and I used to drift in.

Straight line does take skill, depending on the class. It's not my cup of tea I like drift and rally best. But I do hold a respect for the ones that do it for points because it's not just the fastest car that wins.

Also, I'll add that I would rather be in a Supra then a Civic at speeds over 120mph... The Supra was built for tipple digit speed, that Civic was built for 60mph! LOL

huh? only the 10 is overly helpful, the first 3 were basic early awd light and fun, 4-6 were serious drivers cars, 7-9 were AYC gods of corners but the new one .... i no likey. i get some flack for this but my fav cars to race on tracks or touge are ff cars, i know i know most people only like fr on tracks but i love trail braking and lifting the rear wheel into corners late and lining up an early ff corner exit (late apex is a ff specialty) i love super light nimble chuckable cars that are all about tossing the car in order to transfer out of understeer. its challenging to keep a car just that little bit over the edge lest you understeer off into the hedge.

non of my subarus are "fun" on the tarmac, i have only had a few cars that were truely fun to me, my fave was a crappy 95 civic coupe or my 82' carolla sr5. driving comes naturally to a few, but knowing how to "race" definitely needs to be learned, you should check out some Jackie Stewart stuff, he has been teaching even pro F1 drivers stuff, guess even the best need to learn how to drive...and when i say computers i dont mean the computers that teel the spark plugs when to fire or the windows to go up or down lol, i mean the computers that help you drive like the malitino on ferraries or the stupid R buttons on the r35, btw i like skylines up to the r34 my fav is the r33 due to its amazing understated and muscular looks.

I'm old school when it comes to driving, I want to feel everything. When it snows, I disable my ABS because I drive better then the car can. I think they are making them much more user friendly, or maybe stupid friendly, then the used to be.

I got my moms 02 Civic LX to 95mph once and I was scared! Took my Silvia to 140+ and felt safe up to about 125. I also had an 83 Celica I took to 130 a few times and that car was a blast!

    Re: "it's just a little 4 cylinder"

wow thats fast for an old carolla my 82' was mostly used in the winter, we have a road called skyline here in duluth and it follows the hill all the way across town, its like mulholland drive but with snow, a LOT more trees, and the same drop into the abyss. i took that road slydways every winter on my way to work (at a brewery ) but that little bugger was all rusted and had the stock carbureted engine, slow but fun , i had an old 92' lexus sc400 i got that over 165mph (no speed limiter b4 93') on a 5 mile straight at 3am, i almost lost it into the bay (of lake superior) at the end tho... scary stuff.
and i have maxed out all my outbacks at 124mph, thats easy they get there pretty fast for a 165hp car.

Supra dude was probobly chatting on the phone listening to classical music. Civic dude felt a slight buzzing in his ears to the rest of the day. To each their own. Id still take the civic for a joy ride. But only with ear plugs lol.
