    DarkPhoenix's 2005 BP Outback - It's Dead Jim 01 Jul 2016

Well, the 02 is gone, but a new OBW has taken it's place.

It's a 2005 Satin White Pearl With Titanium lower cladding. It's a high mileage car, but it has had most of the major headaches taken care of, head gaskets 1st and foremost. It came with a warranty as well, so when the wheel bearings go (which I am starting to hear grumbling) I know they will get fixed. So far, I only put about 50 miles on it and I already want to change the suspension. I got so used to how "tight" my 02 felt compared to this car, but it rides nice. Enough chat, here's some snaps.

I plan on keeping the mods pretty basic. Two things that need to be done straight away is the suspension and the radio situation. For the suspension, I am torn between just dropping it with an LGT setup, stock of course, or keeping it at stock ride height with BH struts front and back with a big ass RSB. I know the stock ride height will be the cheapest route, but these cars look so hot dropped. As for the radio, since I lucked out and have a base model, I have manual HVAC controls, so a double-DIN aftermarket head unit is going in. Gotta talk the wife into letting me buy that, since she is getting me a PS4 for Christmas, and I bought myself a new handgun for my birthday. I will post what I am doing with it. As much as I would love to swap this for a leather interior, my wife wasn't too fond of the leather in the BH, so I will keep it cloth for the time being, just give it a good cleaning.

Funny you should mention this car being loose feeling, I was just talking to a guy who buys and sells a lot of Subarus, and he'd just gotten his first BP Outback, and was trying to figure out what was wrong with it.

Nice. I did a Tribeca fsb on my 09 legacy and it made a nice difference. You could look into that as well. I put a good write up for that in my thread.

Yeah the struts are a know issue with the BPs. They are way too underdamped. Being the car is actually lighter than the BH's, their struts are a great upgrade. The backs are normally the only ones done, but I am going to do the fronts as well, all KGB, regardless of whether I go with the LGT Wagon set up, or the 05 Front/04 rear setup. And sway bars. Definitely sway bars!

The Tribeca FSB has always been something I was going to do, but never got around too. Maybe this car will finally get it.

First "mod". I picked up an LGT shift knob to replace the stock one.

    Nice find!

I almost wish my lgt had the manual climate control so I could add in a stereo for aux and other functions....But the dual climate zones leads to less bickering over air temperature between my usual passenger. Haha

So you've had the car less than 2 weeks now
You must have new stuff to post about

Your 05 comes from the factory with those blacked out head lights
It would look even better with a nice tint on those windows

Yeah, tint is the last thing on my list. I did replace the headlights with Osrams and replaced the fog lights with Narvas. Makes a world of difference with lighting.

I just bought a house and have a baby on the way, so mods will be slow. My other hobby takes a lot of my money as well.

that is my second fav body style. I would love an 05 LGT factory turbo car. Maybe when Ruby gets a little older or I decide to make her a dedicated track car. Looks great, and a nice color combo to boot!

Thanks. I am normally not a fan of the white cars because of the light colored interior, but it was one of the only one I was able to get with a stick. It does look good.

The 05 white Legacys came with the dark interior. They were the odd ball. All 4th gen white Outbacks and the 06-09 white Legacys have the light colored interior. I agree with you 100%. I want the black interior in my 09.
