Well 2 LEGT is finally back on the road:

    Original TZ-series Phase 1 4EAT transmission rebuilt
(EDIT: It's not the same case, the bellhousing code is different than original code).

New differential clutch packs (there's going to be a bit of chatter in tight turns for a few hundred miles until they break in), solenoid assembly, banner kit, pump assembly, CV axle shaft, TransGo RE4R01A-HD2 Stage 2 Performance Shift Kit, new torque converter, and new external transmission cooler:

They put in my JDM Sport Shifter using my adapter harness for regular automatic gear selection:

Mark, the transmission shop owner/head tech, was pleased that the harness worked plug-and-play perfectly:

Clearly I need to come up with a better shifter surround, I'm thinking a bit of black neoprene. For now I've got a bit of black gaffer tape to cover the edges of the shifter. It looks awful, but hopefully not for long:

Later this summer I'll look into the Forced Four shift box setup and put the Sport Shift gate and JDM Sport Shift steering wheel to actual use:

I am trying to swap a jdm https://m.ebay.com/itm/JDM-02-05-SUB....c100890.m2460 trans in my forester and I was wondering how you swaped the sport shifter.

I'm hoping the one from a baja is plug and play. Which wires did you have to merge or did you run new wires to the tcu?

In hoping I can swap that trans into my 04 fxt, baja tcu and a baja sport shifter and get the vtd in there too.

How is your legacy and have you installed the stuff to get the gear selection?

Hi Pitman, my apologies at the tardiness of this reply... ONE YEAR LATER SL-I doesn't seem to alert me to forum replies, and Legacy discussions seemed to have moved over to facebook, for better or worse.

Sadly I have not advanced this project since my last post, other that I made a leatherette shifter surround that looks much better than the temporary gaffer tape as shown above. My Legacy was neglected for much of 2018 while I planned a major brake overhaul (which was finally completed early this fall). I still frequently think of completing the SportShift conversion but it seems there's never enough money left to invest in the Forced Four aftermarket TCU that I've had my eye on.

I hope you're having success with your trans swap.
