GTDrifter's 1988 Subaru Justy - IT MOVES

We just picked up a Justy yesterday. It started knocking and the precious owner shut it off right away and got another one. Idk the extent of the damage until I tear it apart but the previous owner offered us a parts car with a running engine if we need it. I'll add pics later because my phone died.

Towing it home (had to remove the hood due to rusted latch that wouldn't function.

You more observant members will notice that between towing it home and it sitting in my parents yard that a section of grill has gone missing. You can thank my left hand for thinking a 24 year old grill was strong enough to move a 2,000 lbs car. I still have the pieces and will be putting it back together.

We have them in the yards over here if you want me to look for a grill. I'm planing to pick one up sometime. I had a cousin that had one when I was like 7, we loved it!

After some research I determined it would be in our best interest to buy a new motor for the justy. the previous owner has one that ran when it was parked and we just agreed on $100 for the engine. We'll try to get it running before we pull it but he offered to help pull the engine which will help me be able to install it quicker. We'll be getting this tomorrow =D. Now we just have to tackle some rust and paint.

Lol. Cassey wants an h6 in it...its possible with a lot of modification. The transmission sits next to the engine on the drivers side, even on the 4wd

Alright. We got the new engine today and since our neighbor parked his tow truck too close to our shed to get our hoist out I had to lift the engine out of the car with my bare hands

Next on the list is to clean the engine and Cassey wants to paint the block. We'll replace the gaskets, new oil, plugs, and wires. Then we'll clean the rust and repaint the engine bay. After that the engine goes in and can be started.

People can laugh about the Justy all they want but i would take a 4x4 Justy over a Prius anyday! Nice to see one of these get some love,can't wait for some uploads.....

busy weekend it was, for those of you not on facebook, here's what we got done. We removed mostly everything from the engine bay, gotta tackle removing the wiring harness, transmission, and everything under the car on the front end. Remove rust and primer the engine bay. Remove fenders and remove any rust and primer it all and paint, repair the bumper, primer, paint.

My weekend plans are going home early from college thursday, remove the legacy dash and replacing the brakeline then put it all back together. Waking up at 8am on friday morning to tackle the Justy. Then saturday I can relax at a candy auction and binge on some cheap chocolate bunnies and alcohol to celebrate a job well done.

made a nice haul at the local yard. I got an almost perfect hood, just has one small rust spot. Got a gold subaru badge, hatch handle, hood latch, perfect grill, some minor trim pieces, and a driver side mirror. For those of you who don't know, the driver side mirror was an option for the justy and all the ones I've seen didn't have this. It will probably never be installed because it looks more unique without it but it's a nice shelf piece just to say I have one.

no, driver's mirror. They all came with passengers mirror but the driver's mirror was an option, at least that's what the previous owner told us. All his justys were minus the driver mirror and they were made like that because nothing there is broken.
