I keep forgetting Andrew got that STi... haha
We dont need my car running for a mini meet
Had like 1/4th of a can of spray paint that kinda sorta resembles the color of the rs. Probobly some sort of ford explorer blue lol. Decided to spray the body work so it wont stand out as much. Fender will go anyways once I get a new one.
Mocked up the turbo. up pipe and part of the down pipe spot welded. Hopefully tomorrow evening ill tack up the rest of the exhaust plumbing and take it apart to weld threw, epoxy spray, and heat wrap.
Uppipe extension
How the turbo will sit.
Add how it it would sit with stock plumbing. I didnt like it at all. So close to manifold and to much crap in the way. Amd this is actually pushed back and flexed the stock flex joint as much as possibly. It would be even closer with the downpipe installed

Looks good! I think for a rattle can paint job it matches real well. Looks better than bondo, and a larte dent for that matter.
What will you use for engine management?

Nothing. Im only gonna run about 6-7psi. Ill be using a voltage clamp to trick the map sensor and a vortech fuel managment unit. Its a raising rate secondary fuel pressure regulater and raises the pressure under boost. Ill monitor this setup with the wideband and see see how it goes. This whole turboing an na motor is kinda just an experiment for me. Although I dont wanna blow up my motor and will try doing this right but if I do eventually blow it then ill either build a bottom end to take boost and run some sort of engine managment or just end up swapping. Either way im having fun

Slav you impress me everyday man haha. First of all, you did an amazing job on cleaning the interior, I'm really
stoked on how fast you're putting together this turbo setup but the real question is...how did you get your
motor to look so clean!? What did you use? How did you do that? My motor still looks dirty and ugly-yours looks
brand new again-btw-love the new profile picture with your kid haha, awesome-keep up the good work man!
I sprayed it down with simple green. Pressure washed the crap out of it. Then used a tire blackening agent on the black stuff to make it more black. Done lol

Ended up bringing the turbo down a tad cause it wasnt clearing the tmic. And rotated it a tad more. Pics later of this. Welded threw my uppipe and first part of down pipe. Welded a nipple for oil drain in the oil pan. Ordered 100' of heat wrap.
Bought a ebay knockoff cobb style cbe for $80 locally.

Very shiny. nice work, man.
Final position of the turbo. I welded threw all the exhaust and sprayed with high heat paint and once again test fitted everything. Now u just have to wait for all the gaskets, silicone intercooler hoses and y pipe, oil feed line, heat wrap, and a few other things to come in the mail. Then I can assemble everything and see how bad I screwed everything up ha ha.

Wraped the uppipe and downpipe with heatwrap last night to keep the heat away from the tmic. Feels like im getting close. Just need a few more things to come in the mail and I should be getting ready to fire it up soon.

Today I mounted all the exhaust permenantly, rab oil feed and oil drain, ran coolant, installed fmu, and a ton of little things.
Flipped the fuel filter bracket and dropped it down low to mount the fmu right above it.
How it sits. If my turbo to intercooler elbow came in the mail id basicly be done and would be able to go for a ride.

Very nice. Garrison was flying around with a bolt on turbo and no EM. Check his car out.
Also, I hate you for that being your personal garage.

Brought it out of the dungen today. Let it idle for a good half hour, let the heat wrap smoke a bit, and adjusted a few things. Still need to install the voltage clamp before I test drive and get it into boost. Have to much going on and working extra hours so ill probobly have to do that tomorrow
Need to figure out a way to make the tmic sit straight. I hate how there is so little room

Well I didnt hook up my boost gauge yet so I dont no for sure. Its on wastegate pressure so if the seller didnt lie about the actuator I bought it should only be 5-6 psi of boost. Ill install gauges tomorrow, hopefully, and no for sure.Originally Posted by GTDrifter

You should make me an up pipe that goes around the cross member so I can go turbo and not hack the cross member lolOriginally Posted by slavik.86
