You're telling me that the cause of the sound was simply a bad pulley? Well, the high reliability of that car is confirmed. I remember speaking to the owner 2 WBMs ago & he was telling me that it was a very solid car. I will miss seeing it although I have only seen it about 8x. It's good to know that it's in another pair of great hands.
timing belt here, on my way over to my parents to fix the car.

I am almost 100% sure, there are no bearings on the back of that idler and the seal had come out. look at the picture closely you can see the seal that the ball bearings sit into. the bearings are all down below. Ran it with the cover off on the drivers side and its ready to come off.Originally Posted by EJ22D

Sweet! Saw it at last years New England meet. That thing sounds so good.
Words cannot express my extreme jealousy over the deal you got on this car.
You: Car spun a bearing = actually needs timing belt done
Me: Car needs a radiator = actually needs damn near everything done

took a day off this week so I could work on the subie. The timing belt kit came this morning which i was not expecting. Got over to my parents place and started tearing it apart. found the severity of the bad idler bearing....
not only was this bearing f'ing toast, 2 other idlers were extremely noisy, the alternator bearing is a bit noisy also but that can wait. I changed all the idlers, belt, and tensioner. bought a water pump but didn't feel like installing yet so I just put in a thermostat for now.
changed the oil and filter, no metal in oil. i will have Robin use his oil filter cutter to inspect my filter.

How dose the wrx motor feel compared to your stock wagon?

Not sure because it has that misfire thingy going on when I get on it. I also need to finish burping the cooling system.

I haven't had luck with cars that aren't supposed to need work yet which is I think worse.. Lol (jury still out on the subie since I've had it for 3 weeks. But who am I kidding it will b fine lol) that's not bad at all since u thought it had a spun bearing.. Haha lucky lucky man..

Well...its supposed to have 230-40 at the wheels. I would be surprised if the other wagon puts down a 100 at the wheels.Originally Posted by slavik.86

Is there anything done tuning wise to the motor? My wagon felt better after the swap even tho the wrx motor was completly stock. But it felt nothing like when I did the same thing to my first impreza swap.

It's been tuned by a shop in CT. I was told 300hp is easily attainable with a vf39 sti turbo. It already has the upgrades to handle it.

Ya I was gonna say with your mods a vf39 or a 16gxt is a must.

That wagon actually might have been tuned by EFI Logics here in CT. Not too sure though. It does have 230whp. It's basically the GT wagon equivalent of John's blue BD w/20R swap (brok from LGT). It's very fast and a lot of time was put into making it all work right.
EFI logics tuned it. I have no paper work of any kind with car other than a title. I need to bug Branden again for anything he might have for the car.

You think you're faster than Robin's GT-B?
Don't know yet. Small issue with boost. Seems to be getting better as I drive it though. Anything past half throttle when getting on it has a misfire/rev limiter feel going on.
