Outback is just a trim, not a standalone model with its own generations.

Look at Japan. They had "Grandwagon", "Lancaster", and "Outback", but they are all Legacy models with Legacy model codes. When the Outback model code doesn't start with 'B', then it'll be its own model. Until then, any Subaru car with a model code that starts with 'B' falls under Legacy for most purposes. Unless it's an Outback Sport. Then it's an Impreza. (which is more reason it isn't it's own model, but just a trim level)

Muse had it right it is a 4 gen, but on the outback only forums people refer to them as 3rd gen outbacks.

That over head map light with airbag light has a lot of problem. I have replaced many of them for air bag problems...

Well...Havent pulled it down yet to fix it.
I have determined how I plan to mod this car. I am going back to my Urban Rally Vehicle (URV for short). Its the idea I had on my second gen.

So my Outback has +55 offset wheels. Would I be ok running wheels that are +48 offset? Rim size is the same and so is tire size. 17x7 with 225/55R17.

Everything will move 7mm in from where they are now, about a quarter inch.

Well, Rims are too new plus I don't think gold is a good fit for them anyway. So I needed gold elsewhere.

Which paint did you use for the calipers and your thoughts on it? I did the ones on my 98 before they went on the car so I sprayed them. I am thinking about doing the calipers on the 09 but I am thinking about using the brush on Duplicolor kit.

Thanks. My Pepboys does not carry VHT caliper paint. I went with the brush on Dupli-color matte black caliper paint. Should get it done tomorrow.
