    98legwag's 09 3.0R Limited

Welcome to my thread/journal for my 2009 3.0R Limited. I bought it with 62,408 miles in September of 2013. It is stock, and I plan to keep it that way. No real updates. I am still surprised with how much a difference the Tribeca fsb made. Car just bites into corners.

My new fog light bulbs arrived today, although USPS delivered them to my neighbor's house. I will install them after work tomorrow. I got Osram Night Breaker Unlimiteds, which I also have in the low beams. I also have something on the way from Rallysportdirect.com.

I just finished up installing the brace. It was much easier than the one on the wagon. Only hard part tonight was threading in the bottom bolt on this. On the 3.0R that hole in the strut wall was not used so it had a rubber tape over it that needed to be pierced. I am going to relax a bit then go drive the car.

It makes a nice difference. More noticeable under heavy braking, but it is noticeable at all times. I think its 100% worth it. I feel its mainly a pedal feel thing, maybe shortens stopping distance a little. But the mush is gone from the pedal. It gives more confidence in braking.

I forgot to mention that while I was installing the brace I noticed the inner cv boot on the driver's side front axle is leaking quite a bit now. I need to sort that out.

Just ordered Rrev cree LED reverse lights. The cheap ones from ebay are not bright enough with my tinted windows.

I didn't take any pictures, but they are in. They are pretty bright. A definite improvement. It also only took a few days for them to arrive after ordering.

Well, they were delivered yesterday. It was too cold last night for me to want to install them. I will probably do that this weekend.

I have a day trip planned tomorrow to get some maintenance parts I need for this car from @dplacencia. I am also getting some fun stuff for this car as well tomorrow. A few people already know what the fun parts are.

Today I went and picked up some stuff with @Rubie_25GT. First stop was in Conowingo, MD to get parts from a guy on legacygt.com. I picked up a set of Turbo XS mufflers. He was the second owner of them. They are prototypes Turbo XS fabbed up back in the day. The differ from the productions models by not having the burnt titanium style tips. These will get installed once it gets a little warmer outside.

After picking this up we stopped by @dplacencia's place, good seeing you again, and picked up a cv boot kit with grease, pcv valve, and the exhaust gaskets I will need when changing the mufflers. We also got some stuff Rubie needs.

Well, I got a repair order for my tint this morning. Its 20% and legal limit is 35%. Looks like I get to waste time and money taking care of it.

Yup. 100% for the tint. The officer never mentioned anything else. First thing he asked was "do you know how dark your tint is?" I do have to say he was pretty cool about the deal and explained what I need to do in order to get the repair order resolved.

Edit- I knew the tint was too dark to be legal when I had it done. This Saturday, which I was planning on using to install the mufflers, I will be getting the tint removed. Then Wednesday I am planning on getting the RO signed and then going back to the tint shop to have it redone at the legal limit. Although MD is awesome and tint is not a "visual defect" so I have to get a state trooper to sign off. In my area this can only be done at the MVA on Weds between 830-1130 am which means I have to take some time off work.

Yikes! At least he was cool about it though, and you don't have to pay a fine in addition to the cost of retinting.

Now that I think about it I don't think I've ever heard of someone in NJ getting stopped for tint alone. It's normally a "and by the way, your tint is illegal" thing when they stop you for a moving violation or something.

Well, tint was removed today. The car looks naked without it. The repair order will be signed on Monday and the car will get new tint on Wednesday. I will probably stick with the legal limit. However, the owner of the tint shop I am using told me that Subaru used a dye in their glass the makes tint measure about 5% darker than the film is. So if I get 35%, which is the legal limit in MD, it would read as 30% if tested. I will probably still do 35% because the 45% they have looks really light.

Just got home from having the car tinted again. Since the glass has dye in it, I went with 45% to keep everything legal. The tint shop I went to was nice enough to also hook me up with a little tinted Lamin-x so I can tint the reflectors in the rear bumper. That will happen when the Turbo-XS mufflers get put on.

The Turbo XS mufflers got installed today. It sounds great. All that was needed was new gaskets and longer rubber hangers. The reflectors in the rear bumper got tinted with Lamin-x as well.
