I believe @soba noodle had them on his 3.0R at one point. I found this video before I bought them.

Had them on the 3.0 as well as on the 2.5GT - one of my favourite mufflers.

Well, the new exhaust gaskets and hardware should arrive on Wednesday. Hopefully I will get the HKS mufflers installed next weekend.

I installed the HKS ES Premium mufflers. Here is a before with the Turbo XS set with extended hangers:

And after with the HKS set with stock hangers:

Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics. The HKS mufflers are a little more quite at idle. I have not driven the car yet to see how they compare under load. They also fit much better.

Just washed and waxed the 3.0R. I had to take advantage of the 60 degree weather.

Nothing new done to the car in a while. But I did buy the Chemical Guys Torque foam gun. It was on sale on Amazon with the Honey Dew and Citrus soaps for the price of just the gun. I also bought the Chemical Guys air freshener sample pack to play around with.

I also still need to install the 3.0R specific sway bar I bought back in May....

A couple people on here already know this. On Sunday the idler pulley bearings finally let go while I was on the interstate. This caused the serpentine belt to jump off. I had the car towed to the dealership were a friend works. Its 100% my fault. I knew the bearings were going bad, but I thought I had a little more time. The car will be fixed and stronger than ever. Here is the necessary tow truck picture.

On the plus side, I was able to get to the shoulder and nobody was hurt. My loaner is a 2017 Outback 3.6R Limited with Eyesight. Its a fantastic car/small suv. I had a 2017 Outback 2.5i Premium before as a loaner, which was nice. But this one is miles better. I wish I could afford one.

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the cvt with the 3.6?

Oh yes, those stupid idlers. They are known for spontaneous failure and shredding serpentine belts. There is a cheap pulley from Dayco that is a suitable replacement which is about $10 each.

I really like it. Its quicker than my 3.0 with the 5eat. It almost makes the 5eat feel like it has lag. The 3.6 with the CVT has a good bit of low end torque. It is honestly surprising how quick this car is. I could see myself buying one of these some day.

Got a nail in a tire this morning. Its not repairable. With that and already having one plugged tire and how worn my tires are I will be ordering a new set of tires.

My new tires arrived from Tire Rack today. I got General G-Max AS-05s. I am going to my friend's shop Friday to get them installed.

Thanks. It just sucks that the set getting taken off only have about 15K on them. But one is already plugged and one has a non-repairable puncture. I am heading to my buddy's shop this morning.

After driving the car a few days the G-max AS05s seem to be more composed over bumps, have better steering response and better change of direction, and be more quiet than the Continental DWS06s. I have not really had a chance to test the over all grip yet. Considering the Generals were about $200 less for the whole set than the Continentals I am very pleased so far.

I finally had a chance to have some fun with the new General tires. They are much better in the dry than the DWS06s were. It has become quite clear how much dry performance the Continentals sacrificed to be good in the wet and light snow.

I had a lot of bad experiences with Continental tires, and while I realize the General is owned by Continental their tires seem to be more robust. You are the second person I know to rave about the AS05s

All the reviews of the AS05s I read were positive. Thats why I decided to get them. And they are significantly cheaper than the DWS06.

Made a friend at cars and coffee. The guy is selling the 05 GT. It has some minor modes like a turbo back exhaust.

So I still need to refurbish/repaint the oem Momo shift knob I bought a while ago. In the mean time I just bought another oem shift knob from Japan.

No changes with the car. I did wash and wax it yesterday in preparation for the winter. I also took the rear sway bar bushings off and lubed them with the silicon grease. Gotta love when urethane bushings squeak. This summer I did make a couple passes at a drag strip. My best time was a 16.698 but my dumbass forgot to put the SI Drive into S#. I finally remember too for my last pass but I red lit so they would not give me a time slip. I also was not launching the car hard. I just waited for the light to go green and floored it. It was my first time at a drag strip so I learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

At lunch I went to the local self serve car wash to rinse off some of the winter road grime.
