    r3v_v3ng3's 97 GT wagon (painted)

So I was browsing thru craigslist and found this car for $300 with no motor. The owner was parting it out and by the time I viewed the car, someone already bought the wing and oddly enough the other sending unit across from the fuel pump. I was able to get it for $200 for the whole shell. The guy didn't have time to keep going there for someone to pull parts out. AAA wouldn't tow it that night since it didn't have an engine . So we went the next day to tow it with a tow bar and we almost got rolled up on because the owners friends thought we were trying to steal the car lol. Anyways we made it back in one piece.

    97 LGT wagon
    175xxx miles

    Engine: rebuilt engine

    Drivetrain: Full 5 spd conversion/harness from a 97 outback

    Suspension: DIY fender brace
KYB struts with wrx h&r springs

    Exterior: Jdm taillights
    jdm door moldings
    jdm grill
    jdm side markers
    jdm headlights
    jdm foglights
    sti front lip
    95 folding mirrors

    Wheels/Tires: Blitzen wheels

Everything is stock. I really wished it was 5spd but I couldnt complain for the price. It does have some rust but nothing I cant fix. Also most of the rust are from bolts/brackets. No spoiler but I found one at the junkyard

Thanks, for some reason I favor this over the outback since it has a moonroof.
I'm not even close to Robin's projects lol. That guy is a savage lol
It's more on the no time but I have the space. Its nice to live on a corner house. The neighbor probably called in for the plates already. She thinks I'm running a chop shop hahaha

    Re: r3v_v3ng3's 97 GT wagon

I had time to work on this car and took out the transmission, which was the culprit of why the owner sold it. Sure enough the previous owner ran the differential dry or something to where there was alot of metal shavings and it broke out of the case lol

Fellow member (rawlessworth, I think) stopped by and bought a rear wagon mat.

Row of legacy's (the other green one is missing since were converting it to a 99 spec (full wiring) and putting ej25d

Thanks, I already acquired alot of jdm goodies for this car but might have to sell it to get an engine for it. I was thinking of reselling for a profit but i might just fix it up for my dad. I already went as far as grabbing a full 5spd harness for the car. Its also a perfect candidate for a flare since the quarter panels are rusted

Ok update for this car. I moved it to the other side of the house lol

    And..... Here is another legacy
Parts car. 97 outback with the cold weather package, 5 spd. The owner said that it was hit by a drunk driver while it was parked at his house. Car runs great but salvage title. I'll transfer engine/drivetrain to the clean title GT wagon. I should have time to start tearing it down next week. I'll be selling the parts to pay off my friend who lend me the money to buy it. Anyone needs parts? lol

Sry guys, I'll be keeping those. I'll be converting the GT from auto to manual and I'll be using the whole wiring harness from the outback to the GT. I pretty much have the car down to bare metal. Just gotta chop it up and recycle to make up some of the money.

Here is what the parts car looks like lol

Just gotta take the quarter glass and windshield off then ready to cut it up.

So the plan is to transfer all the wiring, drivetrain (5spd conversion), basically the whole rear end too since the GT is badly rusted underneath, engine (from the blue outback), most undercarriage bolts (gt has rust on em), brakes and ABS (GT have the older ABS module also AT). I'll make sure to take out the spacers for the drivetrain too.

    Side by side

Also started to take out the interior last night

The wiring challenge would be to make the GT specific parts to work with the (97) outback wiring. From the looks of it, it would be the courtesy lights (doors and lights for the visors) and the moonroof. So when its all said and done, it will be a cold weather outback wiring with the GT extras. Oh yeah, gotta wire up the power antenna too.

So mostly the parts underneath the car is rusted. The body is not rusted, except for a couple of body part (driver side rocker panel which was pushed in, the driver side qt panel which have a hole on it and pass rocker panel). Otherwise most of the parts that are rusted are the ones that are bolted on the car, which I'm going to replace with the non rusted one from the outback.

    Yukkkkk!

Already got the rear end out and gas tank yesterday. Also took out the front end. I'll be putting the gas tank and 4.11 rear end later on today. That should clear up some space

Any pick and pull will have them. There are few in MD here. Look up LKQ pick a part. They took over Crazy Rays. The sway bar should cost around $15-20. Your 2.2L would benefit from an Outback/GT front sway bar too. I have both on my 2.2L wagon.

I figured it was close to you. I should make a thread on those dealership sticker on the cars. The outback parts car have one too (in CO i think). Although I've only seen them on the wagons not so much on the sedan.

outback vs gt (rusted) gas tank

Also throwing in kyb with wrx h&r lowering springs

Got the gas tank and rear end in yesterday. Also transferring in the outback brake lines since the gt is, you guessed it, rusted.

Re: r3v_v3ng3's 97 GT wagon (starting to bring it back to li

Got done cutting up the parts car to make more room to do the swap. Took me 5 hrs (first time) and several times my arm muscle would lock up from the vibaration of the sawzall. Tried to take the windshield out and ended up cracking it smh.

I have the engine bay almost bare for the GT. I want to paint it black so just in case I might paint the car later in the future with a different color other than the stock color. I just need to drop the front subframe/suspension so I can paint it. I'll be installing all the brake components from the outback. The outback seem to have the newer ABS module and the GT the older one. Might have to do with the production date (both 97)

    GT (older abs)

    outback (newer)

And.... It looks like the GT is wired from the factory for the heated seats/mirrors (blue connectors)

Still have alot of work, hopefully I'll be done by the end of the week.

Re: r3v_v3ng3's 97 GT wagon (starting to bring it back to li

    Stripped out engine bay

    Painted black

Newer abs/brake lines, engine/drivetrain installed. I routed the wiring harness already on the bay. Still waiting to figure out the wiring from the bulkhead to see what wires (maybe relay (s)) to add.

I wanted to finish by the end of the month but I'm trying to help my friend get a 93 Legacy Sedan. He basically own it now, we just need to get bunch of parts for it to get it out of the previous owners driveway. Still need to go to junk the pieces from the outback parts car that I cut up so I can have more room. Mostlikely gonna spend time with the fam's this holiday weekend.

So, the auto shell actually don't have an extra bracing for the clutch pedal/linkage to bolt up into. I hate all these little stuff that subaru change

Auto shell (missing the place to bolt up for the clutch linkage). Guess its not needed since no one ever complained (from others that did a auto-manual swap) but its a good thing to have for extra bracing.

Manual shell (notice its wider and have 3 nuts, 3rd is to brace the clutch linkage)

    Ran the interior wiring in

And for those who's wondering what is used to raise the outback's (body spacers)

    Sold it and made $85

Had the car started the other night and the wiring all works. I used the full outback wiring harness and merge in the GT accesorries (moonroof/courtesy lights/power antenna -prewired lol-/visor lights). No cel light.

Courtesy on! I'll try to post up a DIY on this but I want to try it on another car to make sure.

It also have all new fluids. Flushed the radiator, replaced trans/engine/diff/power steering fluid. Bled the brakes and clutch.

I was going to install the snowflakes wheels back on but then I noticed that the tires are missmatched. 205/50 on a pair and 215/60 on the other 2. No wonder the transmission was messed up lol. So I had no choice but to install the blitzens in. It sitting on HR lowering springs for the wrx's. Looks better than the eibach one for the GC's lol. Excuse the dirty garage. I should have it cleaned up by tomorrow. I just need to connect the steering wheel to the rack and ready to roll.

Also need to fix an exhaust leak on the driver side head. Might need a new gasket

Oh, man, those look perfect on it... even better than on the Outback.

Looks fantastic. I am too lazy right now to read back through all the posts. Are you planning on keeping this one for a while?
