The in laws moved 1hr away out into the country so the wagon is racking up a lot more miles these days
We are going to be buying a bigger car seat soon and that's going to be permanently in this wagon
So I'm getting demoted to the forester... I think I'll be looking to replace it sooner then later
Nothing wrong with it, I just want something newer

I snapped this quick pick at the in laws today

Went swimming to try and beat the heat today

I've heard some light rattling from under the car a couple times this month and I'm pretty sure it's a heat shield so I'll have to get under there and have a look

10 years ago today I bought my first car
A 1997 BD Legacy 2.5GT 5spd that hooked me on Subaru for life.

Now I've owned 4 and currently own 2 and love them.

I'm always on the lookout for that next one

Here's to 10 more happy years

So in an effort to keep the BP safe I rammed and crammed and made room for it in the garage for Halloween last night

I've been daily driving our forester for over a month now and I really enjoy the weekends when I get to drive the legacy
It's just so much smoother, quieter and faster

The forester has really taken to its beater status, the plasti dip paint job has faded pretty crappily

I really need to get some high quality pics so i can go for November ride of the month

Future mods I'm a little uncertain about.
Maybe spats but I'd have to ditch my EZ-lip side skirts, and I don't really want to do that.
I'm thinking new speakers maybe next summer but its no where near a priority.

And as far as maintanence, I think what I thought was heat shield rattle might be a failing component from last summers timing belt replacement. Either a pulley or idler or something, I really should have the car in somewhere to have it looked at.

Just put the winter tires on the legacy today
I took advantage of the nice-ish weather so I didn't have to freeze my fingers.

Also moved the brush and scraper into easy access spots.
Good to go now for when snow hits.

I rode in the back seat of it for the first time ever this week. Lots of room for my 6'4 frame to sit behind my 5'5 wife in the drivers seat.

Found myself in a very expensive underground parking lot on Friday. $11.25 for an hour!

You can barely see the baby on board sign in the rear window thanks to the tint...

Still looks as clean as when you first bought it. Can you believe the weather here. It almost feels silly that I rushed to put on my winter tires after the first freezing rain

I was recently given a gently used garmin GPS unit
I've never had one or even used one in someone else's car so they are very new to me.

I kinda like it. I don't program where I'm going but it's fun to just have it on map mode when I'm driving around.
My wife who uses the legacy primarily loves it so that's what matters

I like my install location and next summer I'll probly drill a hole behind where the unit is so I can run the power cord discreetly to it.

So this afternoon as i'm backing out of the garage I notice one of my headlights is out
I go and knock on it a few times but nothing.
Its on the side that I hit a big box on the road a few years ago and this had happened once before
Last time I opened it up, tightened it and was good to go

So tonight when we are leaving my wifes parents house thats 1hr out into the country I go to warm up the car and neither headlight comes on
I tried smack'n em around but beating them up wasnt going to work. my nearly 4 year old bulbs are probly dead

Then I got to drive the hour back with only high beams... yes sorry I was THAT guy on the road
I've never been flashed by so many high beams in my life
Some people got a courtesy no lights flash from me but its -20 something, foggy and theres not 1 overhead street light

I probly passed 50 on coming cars and at least 40 gave me a flash or just switched theres on to punish me
I had no one in front of me the whole time except at one point some pick up pulled out of a driveway
Then they decide to do barely 60 in an 80 zone and the second I passed them they sped right up on my ass

so all in all a fun drive home

And I guess I have to buy new bulbs tmw

We got over 51cm of snow yesterday. it was so much fun to own a Subaru
I met my wife at her work and escorted her home. So many stuck cars everywhere you look

I didn't take any pics but my wife went out at lunch to give her car a mid day clear off and this is what it looked like around 12:30pm

I replaced the headlight bulbs today.
Stupidly I started with the side blocked by the battery and I dropped the bulb cover/cap into the depths
Then the other side the socket looked a little warped/melted and it wouldn't let go of the bulb.
I had to pry it and the socket was kinda in 2 pieces after... But it still works so good enough for now.

And I still think I have a failing timing belt kit component. Either a pulley or an idler is rattley/noisy
The sound has gotten worse recently so I should probly take it to a shop for a proper diagnosis.
It needs an oil change and a tire has a slow leak so it would be good to get those taken care of.

I would replace the headlight pigtail when ever mine melted it acted pretty fucky...also for your noise is not in sync with your rpm?

I actually haven't stood outside with the hood popped and rev'd it up but I'm pretty sure it does

I hear the noise when I'm outside the car (all the time, not just on cold start)
It sounds like a tiny little jackhammer type noise and it happens when it's idling and the engine does its little turn over thing that all automatics do when idling.

I assume one of the timing belt kit components (like an idler or pulley) that I had put in summer of 2014 was defective and failed early. It was a few months after the work that I heard a faint sound but have been so busy the past year with our new son I just ignored it. Now the sound has gotten to the point that I need to get it looked at.

I'm all ears if anyone understands what I'm saying and has any input/experience with a similar noise / failure
