I'd like to help you out with some of those future plans. First the DRLs. Its very simple.
    http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.p ... -2117.html

Secondly the seatbelt chime. Have your car off, Get in and turn the engine on. Now you have like 60 seconds to click the seatbelt in and out 30 times. I did this by one hand on the button and using my other hand as a stop and to re click it. There are videos all over youtube.

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan

Isn't that seatbelt chime the worst lol
Coming from a 2nd gen as well, it is very annoying. I'm also planning on disabling it this summer.

Looks very nice. I like seeing more and more 4th gens showing up on this forum

geckoboy - Thank you! I stumbled upon that thread a long time ago, and now I don't have to search for it. And I'll have to try that seatbelt chime trick sooner than later.

iampetro - Holy crap you're not kidding... It just goes on forever.
Yeah it's kinda awesome how a lot of us have made the move to a 4th gen now. I think it's because they're becoming more affordable.

I believe the door lock actuator in my drivers door is sucking. I can hear it try to work, but it just can't move enough to lock and unlock that door. I may need to replace it. There's a secret button I found that has a wire leading through the floor and behind the dash, and I can't see where the wire under the car goes until I get it up in the air. I'm going to change the oil and filter just to make sure that's new, and I'll look for the wire when I do that. I'm also getting it aligned and the wheels balanced this weekend.

Looks good. I think the previous owner deactivated the chine in my car. Or at least I am yet to hear it.

98legwag - Thanks. That's good, it just keeps going and going, when it eventually does stop, it only takes a few seconds for it to start all over again and again... It's really not the worst thing tho, I mean, it goes away as soon as I put my seatbelt on.

Emsea - Thank you, I agree. I find myself staring at it as well lol.
Haha! I'm sorry, but you have to enjoy it like a lot of other people on here, including myself.

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan

    Here's a recent update.

The drivers front wheel bearing needed to be replaced, and so it was done.
It looks like this car needs new brakes/rotors. The drivers front seems to be wearing funny on the inside of the rotor, hmm so similar to my other car, and there's a squeak coming from it on every revolution of that wheel, until I press the brake pedal. Then it goes away. There's a noise on the passenger rear wheel as well. Not another wheel bearing noise, it's much different.

I took off the dealer sticker the previous owner left on and got the OEM license plate frame on as well.

The oil and filter was changed. I noticed that there's an oil leak coming from one of the hoses that make up the oil cooler by the filter.
The passenger side valve cover is slightly leaky.
You can't see it but this car has hail damage as well. I knew it before I bought it, but it just shows its age.

Also I found what the secret button was for. It connects to a Street Glow lighting module, and that has wires going to each side of the car. This car had neon underglow lights! lol

I was reading your plans. You can usually find used Bilsteins over legacygt.com. Sometimes they will have aftermarket springs too.

Sweet thanks! I need to make an account on that site.

I definitely need a new oil cooler gasket. After looking at the little oil that leaked out this morning, it's definitely from the very top of the cooler where it meets the block. It's not the hoses, silly me, those are for coolant lol.

You need an oil cooler o ring. Its a common problem for them to leak.

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan

^ Yeah I see now it's pretty common, I'll order one from the dealership soon. It's actually not a bad leak at all though.

Oh my I spent some money tonight, and I won't spend anymore for a while lol.
    I have ordered:

    P-204UH Head Unit
    iPod Interface Kit (H621SXA200)
    OEM Underseat SubWoofer Amplifier (H630SAG000)
Legacy GT Key Blank (because I don't have a spare)

These will be the first real mods I'll do on this car and, I'll get my audio fix for a while, at least until I get tired of the old stock speakers.

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan

Today was a perfect day to spend some time outside with the cars.
Audio stuff hasn't been delivered yet but I decided to Plastidip a few things.
    Check it:

Grill and foglight covers Plastidipped black.
I'm jelly of the 08-09 foglight covers, so I wanted to try making mine look the same. I taped off the area around the hole for the foglights.

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan Updated:4/6/14 Audio

^ Thanks for the chewy thumbs up guy.

    Audio stuff installed today.
    Started off like so:

The new head unit was from a 2008 Legacy.

Taking it all apart. I was surprised to see that the previously installed aux port was NOT a hack job! Wooo!
And what makes the aux port work you ask?

AudioVox makes it possible! I only need to flip an aftermarket switch by the cupholders to turn module on, and it will broadcast audio from whatever is plugged into the aux port to the radio.

New head unit with iPod module/wiring and subwoofer wiring installed and ready to go in.

It LIVES! Works perfectly. However I'm concerned as to why it "Needs Guns..." haha.

iPod and aux ports are in here, and there's my sweet old ipod video from 2007.

I really need to clean out underneath the seat. I didn't have a small vacuum on hand. The wires go under the carpet and come out at the floor vents. I also have to tap threads for one of the seats... Damn bolt ruined a few threads.

All done! I got the piece around the shifter plastidipped black while working on this today. It was a pretty easy job, the OEM instructions made it super easy. It just was time consuming for me. My radio antenna must suck because playing music directly off the ipod or from a CD sounds amazing, even with the stock speakers. I will not need to buy new speakers for a long while.

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan Updated:5/19/14 Air Stuff

^Thanks, but I'm not buying them quite yet. Possibly at the end of this summer I will. I'll be checking that site often.

Right now I'm making sure things are still good with the engine/turbo.
I did however debadge the rear and disable DRL's, no pictures of the la.

I've done the passenger side valve cover twice because I didn't know about the half-moon gaskets, and it still didn't stop the burning oil on the exhaust. Next is to check the banjo bolt to see if it's leaking and take out the filter if needed. I was told it was removed by the first owner though.

I got a Perrin turbo inlet hose and Venair IC to throttle body hose because there's a small hole in the stock turbo inlet hose, and I figured I'd replace the other hose since the IC would be off. All in all, it was a large pain in the ass... lol

These messed up threads would explain why there is a bolt and a nut with a washer holding the IC on.

Here's a pic of the hole, barely there. There are many more gashes a found all along where the clamp would be to hold this thing on. There was a decent amount of oil around here as well, which is weird as I've never seen any blue smoke come out the tailpipes.

The stock IC to throttle body hose. It was still in decent condition and also had oil in it. One of the clamps holding it on was loose as well.

Despite the questionable oil present, the VF40 is perfect. No scarring on the walls, fins have no damage, no play, bearings are silent. GOOD!

The Perrin turbo inlet is installed. Lemme tell ya, there was a lot of work in tight spaces especially when the larger perrin hose went in. I also had to trim the hose where it meets the turbo to get the bypass valve hose to line up. I also broke a sensor plug clip, but it doesn't unplug itself luckily because it's pressing against the larger inlet hose.

IC and Venair throttle body hose installed. The new blue hose is toward the bottom right. Don't worry about the bypass valve hose that's disconnected, I got it later!

Even the cover fit back on perfectly!

I couldn't not use the free Perrin license plate frame.

That's all for now, more to come!

Thanks, and yeah definitely needed some TLC. Thankfully it seems all the important/expensive stuff like engine, transmission, and turbo are all in good condition. I'm just chasing down leaks and replacing things that need replacement.

Speaking of leaks, I found my next project to tackle!

This is an oily and coolant-y oil return hose for the turbo. I believe the coolant is leaking from the side of the turbo at the crush washers and dripping down, at least until it gets hot and stops leaking... The oil is coming from the oil return tube gasket that's bolted onto the bottom of the turbo (this hose connects to it) and/or the hose itself. That hose is literally a rock.

After the leaks are sorted out, I'll do brake pads and rotors front and rear.

I think I have a leak similar to this I've been trying to track down. I've been trying to figure out what the lines are for on the VF40. If you look at it from the compressor back you have: Top, Top Left, Bottom Left, and Bottom. Which lines are which? I have a small drip that forms on the V-Band and leaks just enough to be annoying and smell in the morning.

I had to figure this out too. So, top is the oil feed line, and that has 2 copper crush washers. Bottom is the oil return line with a gasket that's bolted in and a short hose (pictured above) that connects that to a hard line. The 2 left connections are for coolant, and both of them have 2 crush washers. I think coolant enters the top and exits the bottom. Hope that helps!

Re: Navi271's 05 GT Ltd. Sedan Updated:7/26/14 Few new thing

    ^You're very welcome!

This car has been running great with hardly any problems since I bought it.

Brakes front and rear were done with Raybestos Rotors and StopTech brake pads. Not much to show here since it's all replacement stuff. I found that a low frequency noise I'm hearing in the rear right is in fact not the brakes, but instead it's probably the wheel bearing. I'll keep driving on it until it makes more noise.

I bought one of the last RawrParts Diffusers from the vendor on legacygt.com. It's held on with 2 screws and 3M double sided tape. I'm going to try to get a better picture of it someday.
I lastly bought some taillight overlays! I'm usually not one to tint taillights but dang these looked awesome.

Tinted on the left, stock on the right.

Tinted taillight with the parking light on (bottom) and the turn signal on (top).
They have reverse light cutouts and circular cutouts for the brake lights.

Here's how the rear end looks now!
And I got a group photo too.

    That's all for now!

Added some new stuff and ordered more stuff. I didn't like how it looked stock so I changed it up a bit!
I love how this car drives though.

    - Ebay Front Lip
    - R-Rev Rear Roof Spoiler
    - R-Rev Interior LED Package
    - Rallyarmor UR Mud Flaps
    - Black Plastidip on Bumper, Roof, and Trunk
    - Gunmetal Plastidip Wheels

Not pictured are the interior LEDs. They're awesome and I'll take a picture of them someday soon.
The black plastidip on the roof is kinda crappy. It's very textured, and I may redo it next year.
Also taking pictures in the Winter sun sucks.

Very nice additions. Digging that roof spoiler and the plastidip. If my car wasn't black I would be doing that.

    Looks great!
Love the plasti dip on the BSM paint

Try doing your door guards like I did, just one more thing to be a little different

Thanks all! The black/silver combo works really well.

iampetro - I may just try that! It'll have to wait for a while though. I took those pictures yesterday, and tonight we have 3-5 inches of snow on the ground...

I really like the Rrev roof spoiler. I personally want a wingless trunk for my car then I would probably get one of the Rrev lip spoilers. I also want a lip for the front. I won't do anything cosmetic till after winter. And right now I have to replace the blown factory sub in my 09. And of course its in the rear deck. Lucky for me a friend traded a 10 in Polk Audio sub and box for me to put in the trunk.
