    5MT transmission mount sqap question

Can one swap a 5MT transmssion mount without dropping the whole transmssion crossmember? Could I just support the trans in front of the cross member with a jack, then loosen the front x-member bolts and pull the 2 rear bolts (not the rear x-member supports), where the longitudinal piece bolts to the rear crossmember? Would that give enought room for it to drop so I can swap out the mount without having to drop the exhaust and pull the WHOLE cross member??

    So the answer is yes?

That'll make my life easier since I just did my swap and forgot to buy a new mount before I disabled the car lol.

Yeah it's pretty easy to swap the mount without having to pull the exhaust and get all the way back to the transmission. You can support the trans with a jack, then loosen the rear supports (I even just pulled the bolts between the middle member and the rear cross member, then drop one or both front cross memeber bolts, then you can pull hte cross member down (unbolt the 2 nuts hodling the mount to the middle cross member) and wiggle the mount out (after unbolting its 4 bolts from the transmission )

but yeah it makes sense when you're under there.

    and congrats on the 5MT!

I can visualize it, especially since I was just under there lol. I'm annoyed with myself for forgetting to buy a new mount, but I did buy a new shifter joint, bushings, and return spring, and new clips for the throw our bearing, clutch fork return spring, clutch kit, and a wrx short shifter assembly, so guess my mind said you've bought enough already lol.
