Help me decide which engine to use.

Help me decide which engine to use!

    Parts I have:
    EJ25D heads tapped for turbo
    Polished EJ25D intake manifold
    STi yellow injectors
    TD05H 16g turbo
    Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Ver 1 STi top mount (I think)
    forge BOV
    Aluminum turbo inlet elbow

    Undecided on Engine Management.

ej22T complete engine. 160k on it.
Ej257 shortblock rebuilt. 60k before rebuild.

I would like to see 300-350hp but would prefer it to be a reliable good all around street car rather then make a number on a dyno.

    Which block would you use?

I'd personally run the ej22t, but I'm bias against the ej25 for my own reasons. But looking at the maths of it, an ej257 with 25d heads is 9:1 compression, and still has weak ringlands so tuning would have to be spot on. The 22t with those heads will have a much lower cr (7.7:1) on stock thickness head gaskets, so you'll be lacking some low end unless you go for a set of pistons made for that combo.

Yeah, I'm aware I need to run thinner gaskets on the 2.2t. Seems a lot of people over on other forums have had success running the 25d gaskets

    EJ257 every day, all day.

More displacement = more torque = more smiles

You could push 400hp (300whp) on that setup all day long

    22t gets my vote.

bratman is correct on the 7.7CR which is too low to get a decent daily driveable engine - sell the whole ej22t and get your engine management with the proceeds.
