    derrick's 95 impreza L *for sale*

    been a while :]

my fiance bought this car the weekend before Christmas from a close friend and we made sure to flog it some great windy dirt roads in NC the next day her name is "Maja"

the chassis and transmission have around 250k miles, but the engine is right at 47k miles :] she desperately needs new shoes, lol.

it started life as 95 impreza L and now has a few tasteful mods and a swap.

    this is her now:

    Drivetrain:
    • 2005 usdm 2.5L ej25 swap
    • 2001 usdm 2.5rs intake manifold
    • 2005? usdm sti axleback

    Suspension:
    • 2000 v6 jdm sti springs/struts
    • ebay? strut tower bars front & rear
    • 2002 16" wrx wheels
    • Bridgestone Potenza RE970 A/S Pole Position tires. 205/55R16

    Exterior:
    • 1995 v3 jdm wrx bumper (front)
    • 2000 v6 jdm sti bumper (rear)
    • 1999 2.5rs coupe spoiler
    • 1998 impreza L hood & grille
    • 1997 EDM signal lights
    • 1997 depo blackout headlights
    • shaved/debadged
    • rolled fenders

    Interior:
    • 2006 usdm wrx limited seats
    • Sony single-din head unit with USB & aux

    To Do:
    • newer chassis...
    • fix speedo
    • new shocks (a bit softer)
    • replace shifter bushing and add a short-throw shifter
    • leather shift boot
    • install sti color changing gauges (and if possible, make them pink/red instead of green/blue)
    • wire heated seats
    • 2.5rs hood
    • better brakes & lines (wrx preferably)
    • rebuild extra transmission
    • hella supertones
    • jdm tails (or others if i find some really nice aftermarket ones...)
    • fix small dings and paint the car matte black
    • better headlights
    • remove third brake light and cover the hole
    • dye the carpet
    • fix door cards or get new ones
    • fix headliner
    • roof vent (maybe)
    • rear glass/wiper install

    Special Thanks:
    • Garrison for the very opportune hookup with wheels!

The thing that blew me away was how easy it was to change the oil. Love this car but I miss my bd. Cannot wait to get another.

Huge thanks to garrison for hooking us up with some 02 wrx wheels with some tires.

On the way there the sidewall inside the front drivers tire went in a couple places...

the car also looks a billion times better!

Before (now you see why I was desperate):

Very cool. I put my switch for my fog lights in the center console where there was a slot for coins. I love it when the switches in a car look clean

Couple things need some love on the car

Header is coming shortly, CV boot on the front left is busted, steering boot is busted, leaky power steering pump, leaky front main seal.

Re: derrick's 95 impreza L *busted CV boot and steering rack

If you're going to drop the rack, I heavily suggest grabbing some Whiteline bushings to replace you 250k mile-old stockers. You'll notice a HUGE difference in steering response.

    Axle - most likely, yes.

Rack - all depends on what's leaking. I've been through 2 racks and 3 pumps and the setup is leaking (again). *grumble grumble*

Is that on the rack itself or just the tie rod boot?

The power steering pump leaks like crazy

That's at the bottom where it goes horizontal into the tie rod if I'm saying that right.

Yeah just go to the junk yard and try to find a lower mileage rack-specific (that's the only important bit, the fittings are all unique for some -stupid- reason) PS pump. All impreza's from 95 to 2001 used the same rack so it shouldn't be hard to find.

The bushings are a giant PITA to install with the rack on the car by the way, just so you're prepared.
I've been to boost and back again my friends... and it was good

If it's just the tie rod boot you can inspect the inner tie rod for damage (Move the tie rod in and out if it moves and clunks it's bad). Tie rods are $35 bucks from most auto parts stores, there's no real reason to replace the whole rack just for that one part. :P
