Factory rear 6x9 in BH/ 3rd gen wagons.

First of all I thought these didn't come in America, now I just found 1 in an outback. I was so sure they are jdm/EDM that I bet my bro 10$ he won't find another one in a year. Then, as we were walking out he spotted one.

I'm talking about the 6x9 in the rear hatch on the pass. Side.

I was just trying to find out info and they say it comes on the ones with an amp, but I found and installed 2 amp/subs and this is the first one I found with a 6x9.

Is it a sub? I didn't follow the wires or even check for an amp so idk.

I grabbed the center taillight piece and them assholes wanted 75$ for the bare garnish. From a pick n pull.... Rediculous, i usually pay 15$ for this piece...

Anyway I bought the mounting bracket and cover for the speaker and will install soon.

    Also grabbed a bug guard!

The 6x9 is the factory subwoofer. All 2000-2004 Outback Limited, LLBeans, and VDCs got it, as well as the GT Limiteds. The "normal" GT may also have it. On the sedan versions of these cars, it is located on the rear parcel shelf on the drivers side.

There is no separate amp. The non-Macintosh cars headunit has a connector for the sub directly. For MacIntosh equipped cars, it is just another channel on its under-seat amp.

$75 sounds about right for a center garnish, especially since they sell on eBay for easily twice that. If you have a place that sells them for $15, buy them all and flip em on eBay.. Easy money.

Oh wow, I didn't know that, they were both outback limited. I swore the sub under my pass. Seat from a gt has n amp built in, because it is adjustable and makes the whole system better "amplified".

Edit: never mind I didn't mean a seperate amp I meant the amp/sub under pass. Seat.

Do u know where I wire this sub to? I didn't follow the wires.

I also found the last piece of the OEM wood grain kit, the L.L. Bean wheel, but I didn't have the right tools

The 2nd gen used an "externally" amplified sub.

As I said, the 3rd gen has the "amplifier" INSIDE the head unit.. so.. it wires directly to the head unit. The head unit is only capable of a sub if the car came with it. From what I know, the Legacy L and Ouback base model had a different radio in it.
