Looks like April 4th has an early lead. I will keep the poll up for a few more days, and then move on to location.

I voted for pretty much any date that didn't fall from mid-April to May 9th. The end of the semester crunch will be occurring around then, as well as...GRADUATION.

But any of those other dates would work just fine.

So, April 4th has a good solid lead, so that will be the date.

I now need suggestions for a location. I am open to anywhere, but closer to Yama's house greatly increases the chances of the S401 being there.

The issue with where it has been in the past, is that it will cost about $450 to rent all three pavilions that we end up using. If enough people want to split that cost, then sure.. but I know I personally do not want to foot that whole bill.

We got around that by doing it early enough that reservations are not needed. Since we are talking about April this time, reservations will be required.

Not sure I'll be able to contribute much due to the fact that I would be spending about that much for my trip over, but I'm sure you guys understand.

I can't see the weather being any better the following week (and being charged for it-thought-I understand why-it's "spring time")-it took until june for the temps to go up around here.

Yama and I were talking about some alternate locations yesterday. I am going to sort them into a post here later on today.

I guess someone local would need to scope out the locations.

What about having it at boxerfest? The parking lots IS the show at these meets. I know most of the people there are driving wrx's/sti's and would not know a nice leggy if it drove over them and that Robin HATES this event-but, the price is right.

I don't want my car around hundreds of other people/ "Subie Bros". I like the toned down size of SL-i.
Yes officer, I did hit a pedestrian, but instead of dwelling on that why not focus on how many I've missed?

Why does he hate Boxerfest? I think we should do it separate. Boxerfest was fun last year, but so is having the SLI meet. Like MRLancaster said, the smaller meet gives you more time to talk to people.

Separate is the way to go here. Waiting for boxerfest just pushes the date even further back, and I personally do not particularly enjoy hanging out with a thousand WRX-"Bro"s.

They would avoid us-just like at WBM-they wouldn't know a sweet leggy if it ran over them! I suggested it for the site for more of a cost saving measure. I asked Robin if he had gone to big northwest meet-he did-hated it-as we all aware that Leggys are second class citizens-these events give out ONE best leggy of the show-while the imprezas get them for every generation.

I'm local... lived here most of my life. There are LOTS of other parks and pavilions in the area but they all have the same issue come spring time its pay to play. But I can think of some alternate locations and let you guys know... but personally I'm in favor of BEFORE the pay to play stipulations.

Alot less people alot less BS to go through. and I will not be able to contribute to paying for the pavilion eithier as every year i spend more than I should buying food to make sure the event is covered...

I agree that the SLi meet should be separate from Boxerfest. I'm not a typical "wrx/sti hipster" but I do enjoy seeing all makes and models together at one giant event. I can help cover a pavilion cost if we find the right location.

Okay, I have finally updated this thread for a poll on a location. There are a number of large-ish parking lots in Columbia, I have put a number of them here, but I am quite open to suggestions. Once the location is hashed out, I will start a new official meet thread.

    Howard Community College Parking Lot
    - A very large lot, that should be largely empty on the weekend. This is where the "D-day Photoshoot" took place a few years back. Lots of room, but no toilet or food facilities on site. There are a few restaurants a short drive away (about 1 mile) including a McDonalds, Maiwand Kabob, Subway, Ritas, and Dunkin Donuts.

Whole Foods - Lower Parking Lot
    - This lot is right on the lake, and obviously has Whole Foods adjacent to it. Nowhere to cook food, but bathrooms and food will be available in the market. This is also across the street from Columbia Mall, which has plenty of options available as well.

    Columbia Crossing
    - A nearby shopping center. This has the potential to be quite full as it will be on the weekend. Has a Target, Maiwand Kabob, Famous Dave's and Romano's Macaroni Grill.

We CANNOT do HCC parking lot... I work there they will not tolerate it... but we COULD use the athletic and fitness center parking lot if i work it out with my boss and there aren't other events going on that day. I would offer the use of the AUX parking lot but it may be in use for motor cycle classes as April 4th is a weekend in the spring when those classes start up again.

Whole foods is relatively new in Columbia like last few months new not sure how they are about loitering and car meetup's but again could ask and I think as long as we speak with a manager and purchase food from them it might work out just fine.

Columbia Crossing is a relatively FULL shopping center.

    Consider Harper's Choice instead potentially?

there is also a PUBLIC Damn hear where RUBY(Tim) lives which would be a PERFECT meet up spot... he will have to chime in on that

Since I am not from the area, I am basing these options from those who are down there. Yamazaki gave me a number of these suggestions, but I am largely relying on you all for information on these.

I have removed HCC from the list. There are no campgrounds (from your facebook link) that are closer than 25 miles from Columbia. These could be a possibility, but the likelihood of the S401 being there is quite low.

I did a quick search, and are you talking about Brighton Dam, @Hinyo?

That seems like it is a decent size. I count at least 35 parking spots from the satellite view on google maps.. I wonder how busy it would be on the weekend with people fishing and the like?

Also, what about bathrooms and grilling?

Very true. Not sure about that. Which was why I suggested a full size lodge. The prices are like 80 bucks for the DAY! so we could grill there and would have bathrooms and could get out of the cold when needed.

You better ask permission on the Whole Food lot.

Here is my recommendation. If you all want to stick with Columbia, I would recommend a kiss and ride lot.

Allot of car meet gathering at this state park
    Seneca Creek State Park
11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878
    http://dnr2.maryland.gov/publiclands...al/seneca.aspx
Day Use Service Charges: Friday before Memorial Day to Labor Day Monday $4/person; out-of-state residents $6/person. All other times $3/vehicle; out-of-state residents $5/vehicle

    Free Entry
Rock Creek Regional Park (Lake Needwood) , Rockville Maryland
Lake Needwood Boat Center (It's inside the park)
    15700 Needwood Lake Circle
    Rockville, MD 20855
    http://www.montgomeryparks.org/facil...rks/rockcreek/

Free Entry. I have held a Car show in the past at this location
    Cabin John Park
    MacArthur Boulevard
    Cabin John, MD 20818

Seneca Creek State Park is nice. I live near there. We can rent a 50 person shelter for $50 for the day. However, on weekends there is a fee to enter the park. Its $3 for MD residents and $5 for those out of state. I have not been to Needwood in a long time. Cabin John has Montgomery Mall a few blocks away with a food court and some other restaurants.

I can't make it down that weekend, but have you thought about trying to get a bit of corporate sponsorship for the day to help defray some of the costs? I don't know if we have some vendors near there that might want to contribute to the cause.

    Just a thought.

Sorry I wont be able to see the S401.

Regarding location, I turned in the registration and plates for the H6, so I am no longer able to use them for the S401. I am definitely not going on 29, 95, or 100 because of the police presence. I don't want to get stopped again because the police "didn't see a driver". So if it's far from Columbia (meaning I have to get on the highway), I'll probably just show up on the bike and the wife in her Forester.
