    Cale's 1999 Outback

I'm bored at work so I'll make a thread. Now I don't have to use other's threads.

The day I bought it @73K miles. Swapping over my WRX wheels from my old car.

    After:

Interior was pretty clean. Bought it from the OG owner who used it to drive to and from the stables. (Or so I assume, as there was a bunch of hay under the rear seat)

    Then I did something:

Then another thing. (A kind of stupid thing at the time. Damn you CL!)

I replaced the audio system (Have to go back and re-wire everything )

    and did the door cards

Painted my winter wheels. SPARKLES!!!! with a coat of glow in the dark paint on top (not pictured)

Then I ordered an OEM bugshield and rear spoiler. (spoiler is not on yet)

Currently I have new Foglights that I tinted yellow, and side markers that I bought from r3v_v3ng3. (A+ seller BTW) I bought a can of black plastidip to refinish the fog covers and match the side markers to the black moldings.

That's all I've done so far IIRC.

    Future plans are (in order):

    1. BC Racing Coilovers (7K F/R)
    2. Replace all gaskets (HG, VCG etc) or possibly do a high compression build using a 251 block.
    3. Possibly new headliner (Thinking fabric that looks like the night sky. Stars +moon type deal)

VERY rough MS paint edit of how I picture my car looking this summer.

Nice! I'm still considering redoing my door cards but I can't find a material that I like. And also what made you choose 7k rear spring rates? In my opinion that may be a bit stiff for the rear. I know a few guys are running 7k Front 5k Rear, I'm 8k front 6k rear and I think 7k rear might get a little rough and bouncy, although I can't say for sure so take that with a grain of salt.

I regularly hail things in the rear so I just wanted to be safe.

That want my first choice for door cards but i spent less than $10 in materials so I can't complain

Oh okay, yeah that makes sense. I might suggest getting the swift springs to help with comfort for the times you're not carrying anything, and they're just higher quality in general. Also I think the fabric you used works really well with the car. The front seats have the blueish fabric which ties in with the door cards.

Its gonna be sick!!! Are you planning to tint the car?
I like that lip idea, reminds me of the bugeye wrx 3 piece. Its still hard to find a lip for the outback front because of the way the bumper shaped on the bottom

Oh wow that actually looks really good, I feel like it needs something down the middle though. Maybe throw those on and then figure something out to add onto it. Is it the Home Depot garage seal thing? I'd hate to steal your idea, but I might have to if I can't come up with my own idea for a lip! maybe you can do something similar with the side skirts too.

I'm thinking attach the Legacy skirts, and then on the bottom of those lay the HD garage seal flat along the bottom and attach them and it might look a bit like a side skirt splitter. Could be cool, could be really ugly.

I don't plan on tinting it at this point.

And KNaph it's essentially the garage seal stuff, although now companies are selling it for auto applications. I planned on doing the front like the picture, then the sides all the way down, and the back to mirror the front.

I have also tossed around the idea of getting Legacy skirts but I'd like to keep my OB mud flaps/guards I think. I just want this cold weather to be over so I can get to work!!!

I had my fun in the snow, but now I'm just so done with this.

Oh yeah then you're way ahead of me haha. And I wasn't aware that there were alternatives.

I kinda like my OB mud flaps but they don't flex enough for me and I scrape the front ones on a lot of stuff even driving cautiously and I'm not really even that low. I think the car still looks good as is though, Legacy skirts aren't really necessary and I think if you put that stuff on the rocker panels it should hide the pinch weld which is my biggest reason for wanting side skirts.

Way ahead of you? Hell I'm way ahead of myself!

Didn't even think of how the flaps will basically be draggin on the ground...

I feel that way all the time about what to do with my car haha.

I've been thinking about a solution to them dragging, basically just chop off the lower inch or so that's just a flat piece and it'll basically avoid all dragging/scraping unless you drive off a curb or something with a drastic drop. Dunno how it'd look though, gotta chop the bottom off and then trim the sides a bit to round it out to look factory again.

Instead of cutting off that section, find a Legacy (non-OB) at a Junkyard with flaps. The Legacy's didn't have that lower section, would bolt right on and look factory!

Just upgrade to Rally Armors. Buy the generic ones for like 20 bux, then pull off the stockers, trace the holes onto the new flap, and then bolt them on with supplied Rally Armor hardware.

Is that bottom piece plastic, or molded into the rest of the mud flap? I never looked at it closely but I just always assumed it was a rubber extension.

It's all one piece of plastic so it's relatively rigid. Another idea is to just heat up the lower portion and bend it backwards a bit. It looks like mine is bent backwards in that picture from just hitting bumps and stuff, but I can't say for sure. Could just be like that from factory.

Working overnights is hard on the wallet. Just bought 25ft of this stuff

So I tried dropping the body as strait down as I could as I'm trying to estimate what size spacers I'll want. Will the wheels sink in a little more due to the car being lower, or no? I plan on running a little camber in the front.

Personally I would do the Bridgestone also, it just evens out the look a bit more. Did a quick little photoshop in case you needed a little help imagining it.

Perfect. You've made the decision for me.

Just wish I had gotten a fine/med point marker as well instead of 3 broad tipped ones. lol
