    Help verifying shift linkage

Recently I've been looking into buying a short throw shifter for my 95 Legacy L. Before I pulled the trigger on one I wanted to check to make sure I indeed had the older style linkage and this is what I came upon...

From what I can tell, at some point a previous owner replaced the original linkage with a newer style linkage from a 96+. However I'm not positive that it is the 96+ so I would like verification on exactly which style it is so I can order a short throw.

That doesn't look like what my '95 had. I believe it was a transitional year for shift linkage design, or Subaru was using some cobbled together parts for that year.

My '95 had the fork on the shifter and the joint was part of the linkage. Newer style shifters are usually the opposite - the joint is built into the shifter.

Yours looks extra odd to me. Almost not stock at all, or perhaps from an older Legacy/Impreza than a '95?

Apparently the linkage in my car was also used in the 91-94 Legacy SS. I was talking to a guy on a Legacy group on Facebook and his 95 has the same linkage as mine, so I guess 95's had either style linkage.
