Question Bicycle roof rack for BM

I know nothing about bicycle roof rack and need to buy one that can hold up to (2) bicycle for my 2013 Legacy (BM). I just bought a Fuji bicycle for my wife upcoming bday. I need to know if I should go OEM or aftermarket and what brand I should look for?

Thule and yakima are both very popular. Check what style racks are made to go on your car. It comes down to "crossbar" shapes. Newer cars have the "whisper bar" shape. Older ones usually have a square or circular shape.

Buying rack setups from stores is insanely expensive.

Craigslist and rei used gear sales can help you save hundreds.

Downside is sometimes they dont come with all the pieces from those places

I can't find a photo to confirm that is all you need, but it looks like you can get that kit for ~$140 ea online.

Your Legacy doesn't have a factory roof rack, so you need the towers that clamp along your roofline by the doors. They can be a bit of a hassle to install/uninstall.

I'm more of a fan of getting a trailer hitch and a bike rack carrier. It's safer, possibly more aerodynamic, and I like the convenience of having a hitch. I know the Legacy technically isn't rated to tow, but you could put a cargo basket on it for some additional utility, too.

    Thanks,
After lot of thinking and I finally bought a Saris Bones 2-Bike Trunk Rack over the weekend. I figure the trunk rack would be better for my wife to unload and load her bike while I'm not home. I also ended up buying a bike for myself as well.

I had one of those trunk racks-didn't care for it-kept checking on it during my ride to the bike trail (50 miles) one of the guys at work told me to get a roof rack-worked out much better-thought-my current ride- '03 outback and dearly departed '99 wagon have trailer hitches-which I like for short trips with my bike.
Legacys are like potato chips-You can't stop at just one!
