Question HALP!!!! 05' rear seat swap

Has any one tried or completed a 4th gen legacy pre-face lift rear seat exchange with a post facelift one?!?

the skinny- 05/ 06 4th gen leggos lack the 60/40 rear seats that the 07/08 have.

the issue- I think not having the 60/40 is one of the largest design flaws since the stage 1 2.5 head gaskets lol plus I use my trunk all the damn time moving crap that I would rather not have all up on my seat beds.

and if you can swap, is it a direct swap? do I have to finagle anything or get new frames?

I can't imagine there's much of a difference in the mounting points, it's probably an easy swap.

If you don't want to buy first, rip out your seats, then convince a friend with an 08 or 09 to let you do the same to theirs and test fit them. Taking out seats is a pretty easy job.

Its doable but its not easy... you need all sorts of brackets and mounts to do so... Also, they have a key to lock them. I tried my key (2006) in a set of 2008 GT seats and it was a no go.

geckoboy - the mounts, did you have to fab them or did they come from a donor car that matched up with the new seats?

Key is to lock out the release mechanism. Its not terrible, just make sure you buy seats that are not in the locked position.

The mounts are removable (and the set I got didn't come with them).

One nice thing to note is that my car had most of the points pre-drilled.

Yeah my 05 LGTU came with working 07 Shrek B seats. When I fell onto hard times and had to part with them, I downgraded to 07 Tan limited seats. Issue I had going back to non folders is you had to break those hooks off to install the folding seats. Not sure how he got it working but they locked and unlocked with my key.
