    Reason's Beast

Here's my 1989 Honda CRX DX 5 speed. This is the day I went to pick her up at where she was at rest for 3 years at my friends house. Not much to look like but she has D series 1.5L with a monstrous 92 HP at the flywheel!

What kind of mileage do you get w/ that?
Is that 92 hp figure stock or with mods?

92 HP stock at the flywheel. As for MPG I couldn't tell ya, but a half a tank of gas will last me 2 weeks driving to work and a few rubber burning sessions Saturday.

All my money is going into the Subaru this summer. So as for any mods to the CRX will be freebies. AC removal, will give me about 50lbs less, and take out radio and speakers (err just speakers cuz I have no radio). I have a 91 Si tranny to put in, this car is pretty quick for double digit HP.

I'm waiting for Ryan to give me the nod to race.

You know what a really nice touch to really make the exterior look nice would be? Repaint the windshield wiper arms. I did that the other day and its subtle, but it really makes it look nice

I was going to do all three when I did the rims, but I didn't have time so next time I will. I still have a few more things to do.

That valve cover is looking pretty haggard, maybe paint that with some high-temp too while your at it, or just stop putting money into a beater car primarily used when your Legacy is down because money and work is being done to it. Don't waste your money on a 92hp casket, I've seen too many accidents with those things and only 2 things come to mind -- DOA and decapitation. To be blunt. Yeah they are light and quick but they'll crunch up like that beer can you pounded and smashed on your forehead, and you and any passengers will be the few drops left trapped inside.

...wow that was grim....can you tell I just got finished with a rough day at work??

    No, I couldn't Ryan

Unless Shane drives that thing like crazy (recklessly) I wouldn't worry about an accident like the one you just painted a mural of in our brains However, if he does, I'd say, get a Hummer and you'll be safer

I thought about the ZC, but I don't really want to go all out. I want to fix my Legacy and buy a house in the next year or two. Next performance mod is a muffler to complete my whole exhaust. I'm removing the AC and getting the lighten pulley to compliment that one less belt. Stiffen up the suspension and drop in my Si tranny and Exedy clutch I got just chilln here.

Ok ok, I could go on and on. The CRX will get parts here and there but i'm not going hardcore. I might autocross it, my friend uses his eclipse.

Well I have a tough decision to make. A guy that works at my place also own a performance shop. He wants to buy my CRX (still need to work out price). He wants to make it a drag car (already owns a drag CRX). He said if I don't want to buy it he can do an LS swap cheap. So I don't know if I should keep it and do the swap, or sell it and use the money towards a motorcycle. I need some opinions....help!!

Keep it, swap the motor out. Make it another project!

I have a friend back home in NZ that RALLIES her CRX. That thing MOVES. She had the suspension done up so well that she was keeping up with AWD cars in the mud.

    Those cars can be awesome.

i say you sell it and get the motorcycle, not only because there fun as hell to drive but they get better gas milage than anything out there there faster than most things out there and as for winter driving you have your subaru so your set i dont think you would drive a crx over a subaru anyways, just my input have fun either way.

I'm having the same problem. I have (share) a '89 hatch DX
with a slow D15 in it. (My friend I and got it for $100 like four years ago)
We really wanted to rally it in the SCCA. (now we can't do that.)
So I redid all the brakes (new stock),
took most of the glass out and replaced it LEXAN.(It's light as hell)
We made our own short shifter and adjustable swaw bars.
4-2-1 Headers and a cherry bomb!:smt073! lighten fly wheel.
Moved the battery to the rear.
welded up only half of the roll cage (still need to do the front halo)
Oh..ya...umm.... some how we aquired a crx hp that was dead and
threw the front and rear bumpers on to the civic.( found a factory CRX manual in it!!!)
It has Minnesota rust and it's still a peice.
It's been sitting over at his house now for two year.
He wants to put a motor in it. (which I thingk is going to happen this winter)
I want to spend money on my car. (I already have a bike)
We modded it so much, no ones ever goning to buy it.
everyday I fell different about it.
In you case, the CRX is still mostly stock and it worth more that way.
DX SUCKS!!!!!!!rice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(sorry this is too long)
(parts are cheap and easy to find!?)

Well, the CRX isn't going to get the mileage of a motorcycle, but its going to be a lot better in an accident than one. Its also a lot more capable in the snow (in case your automatic tranny on your GT goes out :P ) than one.

    Its a tough call.

Personally, I think you would have too much fun on a motorcycle

One of my friends is selling a 11Second Street driven CRX, Tuned on e85. It's badass, you could buy that and have insane amounts of fun
