    Dead's 2005 Baja Turbo!

So umm... I got another car... err... truck... mmm... Subino! AKA BAJA!

I've been talking about getting one for years and this one popped up this week at the auction and I have a great hook up over there. She needs a little work and a lot of TLC, but its not a bad rig at all! Still need to finished the paper work and stuff, but that no big deal.

Yes, it's a 5 speed and also a Turbo! :smt026 All stock as far as I can tell. It's at 191,000 miles right now, so I have a lot of things to check out. It does run a little rough, but the bottom end is in good shape. Thinking a plug or coil pack.

    Engine/Under hood:
    -EJ255 (stock for now)
    -TD04 Turbo
    -Zero Sports Radiator Shroud
-Beatrush Air Box (not yet installed)
-STI Ingen Intake (not yet installed)

    Trans:
    -4.44 5 speed
    -Stock Subaru Excedy clutch

    Susp/Underside:
-JDM STI Pink strut bar (front)
-Hitch receiver (brand unknown) w/5 pin connector

    Interior:
    -Kenwood BT555U Bluetooth
    -JDM Trust shift knob
-JDM double stacked center console (not yet installed)
-H6 Digi HVAC (in the works)

    Wheels/tires/Brakes:
    All stock now...
-Falkin tires on Stock Baja wheels

    Body/Exterior:
    -A.R.E. Canopy
    -Yakima towers and crossbars

AND ITS ONE COLOR! I think Bajas look better when they are one color.

My last 2 builds have gone lower... this one is getting lifted. This way I can stop riding with friends when we go hiking. The GT-B hates going off road... haha

    Everything I see is amazing

I love the 5spd, turbo, monotone red, the cap and the fact that its a Baja!

Those are worth their weight in gold here.
Beat up ones with 200k miles that are 2 tone automatic non-turbo go for $8-10 thousand
And In the past year I've seen ones with lower miles posted at $13+ thousand

I dream of having one someday, especially a 5pds turbo one

    Congrats you lucky bastard

People charge an arm and a leg for Bajas out here. A 4eat NA Baja with 200,000 miles will have an asking price of around $7,000-$10,000.

I still think about the Baja I almost bought when my wagon died, absolutely love those things. Congrats on the new addition, I can't wait to see what you do with it!

I got a killer deal on it considering what I paid and what is wrong with it. I'm still not sure if this is what I'm going to want for daily use, but I'm sure I'll make it work. lol.

And yes, they are very spendy over here as well. The cheapest one I had found recently was $7k, for a non turbo 03. Most are all around 9-12k and turbo start at $10 with high miles. Lets just say I'm paying about what my dad just paid for a super clean 03 Outback with 93k on it.

Touche... haha.. I will have more today. It was night when I rolled it off of the trailer last night. I'm actually going to try and find time today to drop some plugs in and try and fix the miss. Also giving it a pressure wash as well.

Indeed, they have a hefty price premium. The one I was looking at was all silver, manual with 145k and they were asking $9,700. I passed when I saw they underbody, it was no better than my wagon, bolts rusted everywhere

Sweet find! How much lift are you planning, and will you go wider with the wheels/tires, or stick to normal width?

I'll have some more pics coming soon...

I did do some diagnostics and found a few issues.
-Low comp in cly#2 (10psi) and lower in 1,3,4 (115psi).
    -Crank pulley is falling apart.
    -bad ground and power cables

I'm working on getting the crank pulley off to check to make sure the timing is good, or not, but it's proving to be difficult without the right crank tool. :P

I'm gonna work on it after I work on my brother Tundra, the girlfriends Impreza, and my Outback... So meny cars so little time... lol

haha... It's not forgotten. I have so much going on right now, getting work done on any of my rigs has been hard. I did start to clean out the Volvo. I might be selling Pulsar #2 so I've going to start putting that together as much as I can and then making more space and less stress.

So here is a photo update.. I started to polish out the body yesterday. I did get the headlights all polished out, but they will be replaced with some JDM ones in time anyway. Not sure if I want to do D-Type or A/B/C. Time will tell. A/B/C will be much easier with not having to worry abut getting a whole front end, but it would be nice to have an aluminum hood for sure since this car is kinda heavy. lol

    Anyway, here are some pics.

Seats need to be pressure washed, but havent had the time or weather...

There are B/C turbo hoods made of aluminum... Otherwise, a D-type Lancaster bumper should line up fairly nicely.

Well, got the motor out and found the misfire problem... lol... @slavik.86 had an extra valve and it seems to do the trick. With the motor letting go in the GT-B, I'm going to just toss the Bajaj together really fast to get it back on the road and I'll take care of some other things later.

I also did find a guy in BC parting a JDM BH with a A~C type front end and I'm trying to at least get the hood and a few other parts.

Well, I got to drive my Baja yesterday, on my birthday, for the first time with it running like it should! Been waiting for almost 10 years for one of these.

I still have an odd miss, but there are a lot of little things that need to be addressed, but she is on the road. I also gave it a polish and took off the factory rack. I might be installing my Kenwood from my GT-B later today so I can have my Bluetooth again.

Some updated pics... Took the canopy off for a bit. It will go back on in time.

I added a JDM STi strut bar and a Kenwood Bluetooth. Also gave her a proper detail.

Looks great. Real turn around from when you got it. What product/processes did you go with? I'm curious about the interior stuff too.

I´m wondering what you are meaning by D-type og A/B/C.
JDM BE/BH chassis cars have an A-C revision as well as D type which was a slight face lift. All we got in the US was A-C. The D type has slightly different lines in the front end parts such as the headlight, bumper, hood, and I think the fenders too.

Note the headlights, grill outline shape, width of bumper rise between lights and grille, and matching parts of bonnet.
