AC Compressor Misfiring
I have a 99 Subaru Legacy SUS with an EJ25D engine. Car has 180K miles on it. Recently I replaced the AC Compressor. The compressor works and blows cold air. Recently I have noticed that the car seems to misfire when the compressor is on. It doesn't happen all of the time but it always stops when I turn the AC off and resumes when I turn the AC on. I don't have any error codes for cylinder misfiring and thus I don't think it is a problem with the spark plugs or wires. I also hear a screeching noise caused by the belt. However these two things don't always happen at the same time. I have gotten the misfiring effect with no noise at all. Any ideas?

Perhaps you have a wobbly crank pulley?

I tried to move it with my hands and it felt pretty secure. Is there a better method to test the crank pulley?

I recently had someone remove the plastic adjuster and manually adjust the belt. This seems to be working.

Sounds like the a/c belt was too tight. If it was loose then it would of squeal.
