    Petro's 2017 Honda Odyssey EX

Bought my first new vehicle and although its not a subaru it feels great!

Picked up a 2017 Honda Odyssey EX in black. Exactly what I wanted
Got a great deal and couldn't feel better about the purchase
Its the family hauler that will be good to us and I'll be good to it

    Engine
    - Stock

    Interior
    - Carpet mats
    - All weather mats
    - Deep mat for trunk
    - + all the great stuff the EX comes with

    Exterior
    - Stock rear tint
    - Front and rear splash guards
    - Window vent visors
    - "odyssey" debadge
    - Chrome delete with high gloss vinyl tape
    - OEM Honda Hitch

    Plans
    - Buy and install roof rails and cross bars
    - Maybe an EZlip?

Here it is at the Dealer before Driving away

A quick interior shot before leaving the dealership

The next day I showed it off at work

I'm not a big fan of the funky rear window trim so I think black plasti dip will make that funky body line disappear.
I cant wait to see if it looks as good as I think it will

I waited for a hot sunny day to help with a quick debage

And last weekend I used it to haul this monster shed home
The box was like 48"x21"x96" and 350lbs
Getting it out of the back of the van on my was fun...

...and it will destroy my Legacy race wagon in acceleration. Not fair!
We've had three Hondas over the years and they were all great.

I love my Honda, though after 188k miles, the seat is rather worn...

So I had planned to black plasti dip the chrome bar between the tail lights but I had an idea I tried out this weekend

I took the extra red tail light overlay that I bought for the Legacy 4-5 years ago and tried putting that over the chrome
The top of the line odyssey come with a red bar in place of the chrome one and I figured I'd try and mimic that look

It doesn't look too bad, I might still plasti dip it down the road but I'll rock this for now

Actually that looks a lot better.
I have an 07 Ody for the wife. It's a red pearl color, kind of rare in that trim. Only thing wrong with it at the moment is the drivers rear door lock won't activate automatically, so I think I have a bad actuator.

I did throw some "Fast Wheels" brand BMW fitment wheels on there and it pushed the wheels basically flush with the fender.

These vans respond really well to a slight drop and a better tires.

Thanks for the compliment and the info

Did you install a VCM muzzler in your odyssey?
I've been doing lots of reading on the odyclub forum and there's alot of ppl saying its a must have mod
But I sure there's way more ody owners who aren't on that forum who don't have a VCM muzzler and don't get any major issues with the variable cylinder management.

To be honest, I'd never thought about a VCM muzzler... the idea of a few cylinders disengaging while cruising on the highway is actually kind of appealing to me, on long distances it's nice to see the ECO light up and then feel the vehicle "relaxing"... but when around town, the constant switching on and off is annoying. It would have been good to have it only come on when the cruise control is used.

Ordered my VCM muzzler so i'll have 6 cylinders at all times, no 3/4 cylinder BS

and for the first time in 12+ years of car ownership i bought new tires and rims
I've always bought used before but a brand new van deserves to be spoiled
Got a great deal on the Blizzak WS80's and got the dealership to flex the price on the genuine Honda stealies
Just need to get them installed and mounted

You should blackout the forward facing chrome in the headlights, not the chrome that reflects the bulbs, just forward facing. Blacking out all the chrome on it would look really good in fact!

That's the plan! I was going to start doing it this past summer but life is too busy. Now I've got something to look forward to doing on it next summer.

First oil change is done and the winter tires are on it now.
I bought some black hubcaps but I'm not sure I like them so I might return them.
All I really want is centre caps to protect the wheel hub

So I ended up returning these, they weren't cheap and weren't quite what I wanted but they didn't look bad

I tried cramming it into the garage and it works but not well for getting kids in and out so the legacy gets to keep it for the winter

I installed my VCM muzzler in November and it has been amazing ever since.
All 6 cylinders all the time, no eco mode/cylinder deactivation crap
Took 30 seconds to install and i'd recommend it to everyone

The winter tires are great, its no AWD but i have driven through everything winter can dish out and its handled it all well
10 months old and still loving it, it currently sits around 6500km

April 4th was our 1 year with the van. Sits at 7400km

That same day there was a crazy wind storm that blew shingles off multiple neighbours roofs
I went outside and rescued some of my neighbours house's siding from the street for him
My roof/house survived but my van was parked out front and got hit by a big section of shingles
You can see in the picture theres at least a 2ft x 1ft scratch zone on the hood
The drivers fender got minor scratches
The plastic between the windshield and hood and drivers wiper arm got good amount of scratches
The windshield has some scratches in it down by the wiper
Its pretty terrible for not being that bad

The shingles to the right of the van are still sitting how I found it the next day
Theres actually a chunk of shingle stuck under the top right corner of the hood

Ouch! Sorry to read about it. I had a large umbrella lift off our deck during a windstorm. It bounced off my fender, lifted momentarily and came crashing down on my hood.

Well the 1 windstorm wasn't all we got.
A week later we got hit with a bigger one and half my shingles blew off.
The vans roof, windshield, both front doors, hood, fenders, bumper and 1 headlight are are quite visibly damaged
Thats a whole can of worms I still need to deal with

I got a roll of high gloss vinyl tape to delete my chrome and its coming along well

And I bought a new 3 ton jack so I could do the tire swaps myself

On saturday I picked up this 2 year old genuine Honda hitch for $120 from a guy who lived super close to me. What a deal
I can't wait to put it on. Maybe this week/ next weekend

And no good pics yet but my Chrome delete is progressing

The window chrome delete is now done on both sides
I'm now playing around with the front end, I'm going to do the grill and maybe leave the H chrome
last night I blacked out the center of the bottom chrome bar

    Before

    After

And I got the hitch on last weekend all by myself

Removing the bumper was interesting, I've never done that on a car before

I used the jack stands as a second set of hands

I had to cut parts of the bumper

Tools NOT to use for the job lol

    All good to go

After doing 1 of the 4 grill wings I didn't really want to keep going but I got in a groove and did the whole thing last night
It certainly looks blacker than before though i'm not really sure it looks better then before

I desperately need a good photo shoot to show off this thing properly
