Instead of painting the fogs, you might want to consider the Lamin-X pre-cut yellow tint.
Also the GT didn't come with a scooped hood, only the Baja of the 00-04 generation did. Or you can go bling and get an aluminium GTB hood from Japan. Way lighter.

    Thought about a skid plate?

Ahh, I thought the US GT came with the scoop, oh well!
My fogs both have chips in the lenses, so for now Im just going to spray tint them. I already have the spray. I might drop a pair of Hellas or just stock lights at some point, then I would do Laminex.
I have thought about an engine skidplate, for now thats an extra. I might do one of the DIY roadsign units.
I do however have a Subaru rear diff skidplate, that I will put on.

    Yesterday...
-installed Pioneer headunit, so I can listen to my music. I plan on putting a newer OEM head unit, but I need to locate a decent single din unit with aux cable and I'd like to have the Weather Band as well. One of the big reasons to go backwards to OEM is for theft, I live in a rougher neighborhood in Oakland,CA
-installed OEM Panasonic underseat subwoofer, Ive been thinking about adding a second and extending the wiring, so that I can locate them in the trunk against the backseat. They would fit on either side of the access panel thru the backseat and wouldnt loose any real space.
-painted the factory foglights with yellow stained glass paint, looks much better. Both have chips in them, so Im not putting any real effort. One day I might swap a better set in or upgrade to Hellas.
-painted the foglight grills satin black
-painted portions of the front and rear bumpers with bedliner

I did some more minor things today...
-finished painting the lower open portion of the front bumper and the lower edge of the rear bumper with bedliner
-repaired the rear door speakers (good condition, but cones were rattling). While the glue was drying I added some of the budget version of dynomat.
-I checked on performing rkrenicki's BE Cluster Trunk Ajar Light DIY, I decided to wait. I added an explaination to that thread.
-Polished up the grill badge, it was horrible damaged from sun. I just used the final buffing step of the headlight restoration kit. Looks much better now!

Good looking Legacy! Did the budget Dynomat make the car quieter? My wife’s Juke needs it badly.

    Thank you!
That wasn't the intent, nor did I have time for that big of a project. It would have been necessary to remove the whole interior to make that happen.
The reason I added it was for sound quality, you add it as sound deadner to the sheet metal surrounding the speaker. That will reduce the hollow metal sound.
I listen to alot of metal/death metal and really enjoy bass.

Took a little time today and got the woodgrain Door Panel Switch Bezels installed. Ive never been a fan of woodgrain in a car, but at least they all match now. I kept the black pieces, cause one day I might go back, if i find the dash & console bits in black.
I also completed the Trunk Lid Warning Light mod.
Tomorrow, Im hoping to find homes for the Cargo Net Hooks, complete 4EAT Power Mode, install the Ignition Light Ring, complete Fog Light mods & DRL delete

Cargo Net Hooks- Locations found... Factory holes near the strut towers, just need to stop by hardware store for matching nylock nuts. Then its just a matter of removing the rear seat for access. This will allow for 1 net at the taillights (factory net hook locations) and a second net right against the rear seat back
4EAT Power Mode- Turns out I did not grab the correct style pin, I should have grabbed it off the TCU. For a short term it will be wired to a generic toggle and stashed in the cubby by the fuse block. In the long term, I will wire it to a spare Fog Light Switch, this way I will have an indicator light. The switch will be located in a Baja DIN cubby with switch bay (Subaru #66208AE36A), that I scored off Ebay. Im also watching for the version with 3 switch bays (Subaru LHD #66208AE330; Subaru RHD #66208AE310)
Ignition Light Ring- Physically installed, but failed to complete. I hadnt researched this, turns out it came on '03 & '04 (not '00-'02) with a more advanced light control module. I had hoped the pigtail was existing in the older years, but it isnt. I found a few writeups, but they are out of date(no pics) or apply to a Forester or Impreza (as usual). Im going to look into wiring to the domelight circuit, that way it will light when I use the Keyless Entry or open a door.
Fog Light mods- Completed Step 1 as written in the link. Completed Step 2, but not as the link says. The Yellow wire coming out of the switch gets merged with the Black. The Yellow from the harness gets safed off with tape.
DRL delete- Completed, very easy! Just locate the DRL Controller(under dash, mounted to left of steer column), unplug the white connector. Verify lights are off or on as controlled by the stalk.

    Running lights and Fogs

    High Beams and Fogs

Heres the DIN cubby with 3 switch locations, LHD & RHD

Yesterday, I built a relay harness so that I could run a pair of Hella Supertones. Just didnt have a chance to install them yet.
Today, my order from SuperBrightLEDs.com came in and replaced the license plate lights with White, cig lighter, ashtray and glove box with Red and Door Courtesy with Red.
Also, my Nissan Driver Door Control switches came in, got the ones with Auto for both Driver and Passenger windows! I got it for $29.50 from the Switch-Doctor on Ebay.
Next item in was the adapter plates for my old Yakima racks to fit on this car. Im just waiting on a couple other items before they can be permanently installed.
Also a few days ago, I received the single DIN cubby from an '03 Baja which has a bay for a single Subaru switch. Plan here is to use a OEM switch to turn the Sport Mode on for the 4EAT trans, and the light will indicate its in Sport Mode!

White LED license plate and Red LED Courtesy

Red LEDs in the cig lighter and ashtray

New Nissan on left & old Subaru on right(looks good but the auto doesnt work)

    Subaru Part #66208AE36A

One idea I have been tossing around in my head... These sedans have 4 brake lights (L&R tails, wing and rear parcel shelf), I removed the parcel housing, but the carpet is cut out around it. Thats when I got the idea of a rear foglight. So Im going to look into wiring it to be on whenever the front fogs are on, shouldnt be too hard and then just swap in a brighter bulb.

    You and me both!
For now i found the single, that'll have to do.
Ive noticed there are a few Console/Dash variants that have extra switch ports in them, but so far they are all for RHD cars. And of course, I cant find pics of them right now. When I find pics, I will update this post.
-RHD Radio Console w/ 2 switches between the steering column and the HVAC
-RHD Radio Console w/ 3 switches in the 1st DIN between HVAC controls Radio (only 2 DIN available for radio with 1/2 DIN storage)
-RHD Shifter Console w/ 2 switches between shifter & drivers leg
-LHD Radio Console w/ 3 switches in the 1st DIN between HVAC controls Radio (only 1 DIN available for radio with 1/2 DIN storage)

Euro-spec LHD cars got the panels with switches in them, but they're special panels that only fit single DIN radios and require all of the brackets to work.

Ahhh, I hadn't seen that one yet! I saw pics of a RHD version, but I think it had 3-4 switches and 2 DINs.
I'd still run that one, if I could find one, since I've never been a fan of double DIN stereos.

What about the AT shifter bezel? Does it have the buttons? Know any sources for these pieces?

Yesterday, I had a minor surgery on my nose, so I havent done much at all, except lay around.
Today, more laying around til the evening. I was suspecting battery issues, so I rolled over to the local Interstate dealer and had it tested. Sure enough, 1 dead cell, so it got replaced with a new Interstate MT-35. Then I got the Hella Supertones installed and then took a drive to my Union Meeting.

When I got home, 4 packages were waiting. 2 had parts for my Yakima bars, which are ancient and needed rebuild, just waiting on 1 last part that is due in tomorrow!
I also got new lugnuts and the Tomei shift knob I ordered!

Threads are M10 x 1.25 pitch. I liked the look of the Tomei Duracon knobs, the one I got was 70mm in height. I can cut the rod down by upto 2 inches, but Im going to hold off doing that until I know for sure I like this knob. In order to cut it down, you'll need a M10 x 1.25 die, which can be picked up at any Sears or hardware store. There is also a 90mm height version, which would hide more of the chrome rod.

Well, I came across a CL deal that I couldnt pass up... a solid well built luggage rack, its all welded into one piece. Not too heavy or too light either. And the price couldnt be beat, $120! It fits the roof area perfectly, 40"wide x 48"long. It secures with large ubolts and plastic hand nuts. I will be changing that out for a more theft secure means of mounting.
But for now, it looks better. Its much closer to earning the "Outback" monicker and fitting my goal of being a DirtyLegacy!

    Looking good! Nice subtle changes.

The window switch is a modified one from Switch Doctor on eBay.

    It's this one:

I didnt even realize when I ordered it, that it was modified from stock! It was the only one posted with auto function for driver & passenger, Im really liking that its auto up & down! I need and auto open/close for my Moon Roof now!

I recently found out that Subaru used a rear mounted 6"x9" subwoofer in the BE/BH with the Premium Stereo package. On a BH wagon its in the right rear wall of the cargo area and a BE sedan has it on the left side of the rear parcel shelf. Unfortunately, mine being a 2000 does not have the wiring pre-installed. It would have been pretty easy to find one at a wrecker and slap that in place, but its not worth the trouble of running the wire for a stock old subwoofer. Maybe Ill throw something in there when I get around to upgrading the rest of the system.

I met up with my good buddy, he ended up with my old BG, but had swapped the 2001 Impreza RS2.5 6spoke wheels over to his '98 Forester. Well, turns out he only likes the 16" size and actually liked the stock wheels on my '00 BE. So we went over to a tire shop and swapped rims and tires around! So I have my old RS 6spokes with my new 225/60r16 tires and hes got the '00 Outback wheels with his new 205/65r16 tires!

I really need to figure out a good color for these wheels with this car! I got them originally as 2 partial sets, so 1 pair is the original silver and 1 pair is spray painted gold! Im not a fan of gold, Im bouncing between silver & bronze.

I didnt realize how crappy the lighting was when I took the left side pic!

Didn't have much opportunity to work on the car, but I did finally do a quick 4EAT Power Mode switch. I also threaded & cut the shift lever, so that the knob will sit a little lower and tidier. After dark, I got a PCV and IACV gasket ordered.
    Before

    After

I decided to only remove 3/4", because this is how much can be removed and still put the stock shift knob back on. I will probably remove another 1/2-3/4". Its easy to do, just slowly extend the threads the amount you want to remove, using a M10-1.25 die. Then hack off the end, clean up the cut with a file and its done!

Finally got around to adding hooks for cargo nets. My BE came with 2 hooks mounted near the taillights, but I have 2 Cargo Nets. I found a BG at a wrecker with the extra hooks with a M6 stud, so I grabbed my Rivet Nut Gun and the M6 Rivet Nuts. Just like that it was done! I still want to find locations on the floor to secure both Nets, but that will come later.

This last weekend, I went south a bit to San Jose to hangout for 25th HS reunion and with my brother. He hooked me up with a new top of the line alarm system, a CompuStar. Pretty fancy for this old of a car, its monitoring all 4 doors, hood & trunk, impacts, its got remote start & closes the windows. The remote has a display that tells me if its locked or unlocked or which sensor detected a breakin and it work to about a 1/2 mile in good conditions!

Finally got around to cleaning the Idle Air Control Solenoid Valve and replacing the PCV. It idles smoother and seems to respond a bit crisper.

I also started looking into cleaning up the Intake System, like removing the "snorkus" boxes and using better tubing to feed air to the OEM filterbox or deleting it all for better piping and using the Subaru Performance Tuning cone filter that I got off CL a week ago for $20!

Yesterday, alarm install was completed and windows were tinted. What a big difference tint makes on a vehicle! Ive had limo(5%) on rear windows before and dont like it, makes it difficult to see when backing up at night. So I went with 20% for everything behind the front seats and 30% for the front doors. With dark interior components, its hard to see in so it looks like limo from the outside, even the fronts. From the inside, its still very easy to see out, even at night! I also had them do the top 6" of the windshield in limo(5%).

Im really looking forward to installing the AusDM style taillights that are on their way, along with the lil Roof Spoiler I picked up! Those 2 items should help change the look of the back half the car!

Yesterday I got a surprise, my taillights came in! So of course, I got those installed ASAP! It took a while to find the ones I wanted... I wanted the smoked, so they would blend in with the black paint a bit and then I wanted the center piece that said "Subaru" instead of the easier to find "Legacy". Im not sure what markets or models got which version, other than I know USDM got "Subaru". And Im pretty sure AusDM/NZDM only got "Subaru", since their model name was Liberty, not Legacy. I ended up suing some spray window tint on the wing brake lens, the bright red stood out too much!

Finally got the license plates in the mail!
I just ordered (4) 675lumen Run/Brake LEDs, so they should get alot brighter! And also ordered some Sylvania SilverStar 1156A to get rid of the amber color when the turns arent used. 50watt reverse bulbs got swapped over.
    Red JDM Hazard installed!
