I went up to a friend's house today and we installed the coilovers. This picture is from the out of the box ride height which we both thought was a little low. We raised it about 3/4 of an inch after this picture was taken. The car drives much better now. It just needs a nice alignment for autocross and to have the new wheels and tires mounted.

I love the Impreza hatchback. I am taking the wheels and tires for the Miata to my friend's shop after work to get the tires mounted and balanced.

Tires are mounted. The 215/45/17s are not as stretched as I expected on the 17x8 6ULs.

Too bad those aren't 5x100 or I would love to see them on the BRZ.

Just got done a nice exterior detailing of the Miata. The car got washed, clay bared using Adam's Polishes Visco Clay and Griots Garage Synthetic Clay. Then was micro polished with Mother's Micro Polish and Glaze. The top coat is Adam's Polishes Ceramic Liquid Wax. Don't worry, the front bumper still needs to come off so I can restore the headlights properly. The car looks like scratched and dented black mirror. Next up is interior detail. Then hopefully soonish I can get an alignment and put the new wheels on!

A few days ago I replaced the reverse lockout plate with a new one. The original was worn which made it easier to get into reverse without actually pushing down on the shifter as well as made it a little harder to select 1st and 2nd gear since the shifter would move past those two gears. All in all the shifter feels slightly better. It was worth the $30 and 30 mins to replace it. I also changed the dome light for a LED.

This afternoon I finally installed my 17x8 6ULs with 215/45/17 RE71Rs. The tires are from my 2019 autocross season but still have life left. I will be going to either a 225/45 or 235/40 next. I also installed a delrin shift knob from Shift Solutions Co.

I finally installed the HIDs I've had laying around. Along with some LEDs in the fog lights. The ballasts are 35w Volt ballasts from Xenon Depot and old DDM Tuning bulbs. I think they are 5000k, maybe 4500k. The yellow LEDs in the fog lights are from Alla Lighting. The marker LEDs were given to me buy a friend so I am not sure what they are. And I tinted the side markers with Vvivd smoke black tint vinyl. Sorry for the dark photos. I used the GoPro to take the pictures.
Oh, and I lost a 10mm socket while working on this today.

I entered the virtual car show for Flyin Miata's Virtual Summer Camp. Vote for me if you feel like it!

Edit- turns out you need an account on that site to vote. So I don't expect anyone to join up just to vote.

Somehow my bucket of bolts won the "mild NC" category in the Flyin Miata Summer Camp Virtual Car Show. The prize for winning is a $50 gift certificate to Flyin Miata, a FM Summer Camp poster, shirt, and sticker. I had already bought the shirt and sticker....

Congratulations! That's amazing as they must have had quite a few NCs entered.

Thanks. Sadly not nearly as many NCs as you would think. There a lot of NAs and NBs.

Wow. Its been over 2 years since I updated this. I have only made a couple of changes to the car. I added an Ebay front lip and Carbon Miata spoiler. And for kicks and giggles here is also a picture of the car on the grid for autocross a few weeks ago. It was my first event since 2019.

I took the Miata to a friend's shop for some winter maintenance/upgrades for the 2024 autocross season. It was an eventful trip. The clutch pedal broke on the way there. He is a fabricator so he welded it up and made some reinforcements. After that was done he installed an Exedy stage 1 clutch, DEI transmission tunnel heat shield kit since the oe heat shield was coming apart, new clutch slave cylinder, IL Motorsports engine mounts, and while everything was apart replaced the rear main seal.

This evening I finally installed the Roadstersport strut tower X brace I bought a few months ago. Also changed the air filter and put in some LED high beams.
