New issues with ej206 what a surprize

Car runs fine and suddenly gets into weird very low idle, does not stall, and suddenly goes back to normal ,

    List of things changed

    Fuel filter
    Air flow meter
    Evap solenoid
    Spark plugs
    Coil packs
    Fuel pressure regulator

Seems to go in limp mode, and suddenly back to normal

This Car is so fun when in running order , but always has issues , only 107 000km

IACV would be my next suspicion.

If this happens only when the vehicle is driving then it may be the MAF. I had an issue with my ej206 where it would be running great then suddenly would lose all power, temporarily throw a CEL and rev weird, then it would shortly fix its self. The issue with the MAF was corroded solder joints, as talked about on this forum https://www.legacygt.com/topic/11269...ing-etc-fixed/

Im not totally sure this is your problem but, i hope the information helps!

found what it is , FILTER ASSEMBLY, PRESSURE SENSOR , part of positive crankcase ventilation , not sure if that could cause my issue , doubt it

    Thanks man for the advice

I need a smoke machine to test the vacuum lines , could be the issue before I played with the TPS ,

Now it will not even start ,

I also broke this nipple on the turbo hose line , everything is so brittle !!!!!

plugged it with epoxy , not sure if that one is charged ones (boost pressure) , I do not think so

broken nipple for one of the hose for PCV ventilation , plugged it with epoxy , not sure if it gets too hot for the epoxy to go soft

The Throttle gasket needed to be replaced , I have a new TPS on the way as well , new F plug for the crankcase vents,

ok, install new f plug for crankcase , new TB gasket and new TPS , car starts and runs.....

But I still have the same issue , seems to be in limp mode , I changed the coils a year ago from np boosted , had issues like hesitation before , went away with new coils, wondering if these aftermarket coils might be bad now a year later ?

@duncanm you said IACV , idle control valve or intake air control valve you meant ?

Have you pulled the plugs and checked the gaps?

    Idle Air Control Valve.

Honestly -- idling problems that cycle in and out make me think of very few suspects:

    1. Aircon is on and there's a problem with the high-idle setting when the compressor is turned on.
if you don't have the aircon on when the problem occurs...
    2. Idle Air Control Valve has some issue.
    or.
    3. There's an intermittent vacuum leak. This sounds less plausible, but you never know. The fuel vapour purge valve cycles on and off. Is there a leak on the non-manifold side of that valve? Try plugging it at the manifold and see if the problem goes away.

btw - I'm not sure or not if you are misusing the term 'limp mode'. Limp mode is when the boost is limited to wastegate pressure - approx. 6-7psi. It doesn't affect idle.

    Thanks so much for answering

The idle does not fluctuate up and down , it just gets very low , but doesnt stall,
It is really in limp mode, and suddenly goes back to normal .Sometimes cold start in the morning it wont do it at all , until 10-15 minutes .

so disconnecting the evap from the manifold ? and plugging it ?

right - it doesn't fluctuate, but I think you're saying its idles fine for a while, then switches to a low-idle mode for no apparent reason, then at some point later, it'll come good again for no apparent reason.

yes - just plug the port on the manifold that goes to that solenoid valve. If you can, do it while the engine is in your shitty low idle state, and you'll have a quick answer to know if that is the problem or not.

You could also monitor the state of the solenoid with the SSM port using FreeSSM and see if it correlates with the idle weirdness. Might be a good idea, as you can monitor a bunch of other stuff, too.

(NOTE: might not be called 'canister purge' - but it'll be something similar)

Will try it, I did install a new evap purge solenoid, will see.....

    @duncanm

Did not work , also downloaded free SSM , will not connect to the car , I have been using JDM scan app on the eonon radio, I get some live data, but for some strange reason it freezes.

Not sure why Free SSM is not working

Did my timing belt, belt was stretched , timing was off by 1 tooth at least, works better now , boost now does not go past 5-6 psi
