Ok I have searched and didnt find what I am looking for so here goes.I own a 2004 legacy 35th ann edition with the sohc ej2.5 NA 5 speed the motor is toast and one of the options I found was a 2001 outback with the ez30.
Sooo what exactly do i need from the donor car to pull this swap off.

You'll need the engine, harness, ECU, exhaust, and a local shop that will allow you to sync the key with the ECU (they're chipped). Gooooooood luck, there are horror stories of builds taking YEARS because Subaru was so damn anal about the chip codes for the keys...

Just curious, how did you toastificate your 2004's motor?

And, last, be careful. Your gearbox might not like that much power...

apparently a bolt or somthing got sucked up in to the engine due to me removing a plastic screen that fell off just above the air filter. This voided my waranty.
any other Non turbo Ideas would be helpfull. Call me crazy but I had an 07 wrx turbo is not my bag. I have to keep the price low. I found the donor car cheap.
so I have to have the ecu reflashed to accept the new key?

well if you found and bought donor car you might as well swap everything over, thats the easiest way i think.
98 GT -- Intro to Subaru. Cooked HG, dead suspension, and lots of ricer mods.
02 Outback H6 -- No more HG issues, but ate two 4eats.
09 Subaru Tribeca -- slow and ....um fat, definitely fat.
13 E350 S212 -- No more Subaru!! Why does that make me happy?

    Search the interweb!

Also there's some H6 swap threads on the interweb...they may not deal with an '04 Legacy (where the H6 was offered in a deriviative of the Legacy) but they might be able to help.

    Here

And damn, I can't find any of the other sites (there's 2 more I think?) But they're out there. Use google. [/url]
