Mustand dyno day today...I won the lowest numbers award
TWE Header, 2.5" catback, CAI is pretty much all I have done on the SOHC EJ25...
Gotta love the torque curve though. It was probably the only thing the other guys were pretty impressed with

How many miles? my 97 GT had 117hp. The only difference was I had a short ram, only a cat back and a lighten crank pulley. This gives me hope to what I have planned.

Has about 83k miles on it. I'm guessing the car makes about 175-180bhp at the moment, conservatively. Keep in mind this is on a Mustang Dyno...stock EJ25's have a hard time breaking 100whp on these things it seems.
I wasnt really sure if the lightened flywheel (14lbs vs. 30lbs on the stocker) counted as a power adder, so I just left it out.
You should see some nice gains with a header.

The light flywheel won't show up on a mustang dyno since it measures force and not work.

How much it usually cost to dyno your car?
Dyno pulls cost anywhere from $30 on a group rate dyno day, to $250+ for full wideband and tuning whatever engine management you have. Average cost is probably a little under $100 or so for the basic couple pulls with time to make changes.

I paid $75, 3 pulls with wideband, this other place is $85 I think. But like MCarp said it all depends where and what service you do. If you want 3 pull to get a baseline I would think anywhere from $65-$95 for 3 pulls. Wide band monitoring is like $5-$15 more.

Man.. they really make their money in gold on those machines! Why is it so expensive?
It's an expensive piece of equipment. A dyno jet can be close to $80,000. I'm sure the AWD dynos are more money than 2WD. Then you have to pay the trained techs. It's precise work, you don't want to screw up cars.

Yeah, an awd dyno is around the cost of a house (100k+...just google dynojet or mustang dyno, they have sites).Originally Posted by d1giPhux
What you pay for is to have an accurate tune of your car with whatever mods you have on it.
Case in point, during the dyno day there was a guy that was having problems with his Utek in his FMIC'd wrx wagon. The problem? A crappy street tune. No matter how much on road tweaking they tried, they couldnt get it to idle right. AFR, 02 wideband in the muffler and some pulls on the dyno and they were able to tweak it and get it to run nicely...on top of that they made more power than what they had before.
Also, we had a stock 06 WRX on the dyno, a few minutes to reflash the car and they managed to get another 30ft/lbs at at the wheels from the car - nothing mechanical was done, just a couple of dyno runs and tweaks on the ECU.
