I really love the Bilstein's. The front GT-B springs really jacked the front end up on my L. It rides amazingly well though. I have some GT wagon springs that should bring the front end down considerably. Just a matter of getting around to it and paying for another alignment.

I actually like the Bilstein struts so much that I just purchased a set for my sedan.

I appreciate the comment Navi. If my '95 ever fails I want to get a '99 Ouback Limited wagon 5 speed with dual sun roofs in the same color as my sedan and do a GT-B treatment to it.

Why did they lift it up?

The GT-B springs lifted the front of my L because of the weight difference between a 2.2l stripper L and a twin turbo AT JDM GT-B

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon *(update 6/21!)

Toby bought the set for the wagon from elsantos, who had a set with 80k on them. I was going to buy but I missed out by literally 1 day. Paycheck didn't clear and Toby got in. I'm still bitter about it, but not too much!

ten80 was selling another set, and Toby was screaming at me to pick them up, but I'd *just* dropped coin on a set of KYB GR-2s as I'd been waiting 6 months for another set to come up and didn't want to wait anymore, so I missed out again. My bad timing, Toby's win.

If you're patient you see a few sets come up on ebay every year. I bet if you contacted JHOT you could get them to specify one in their next container. Typically they can go for around $200-$500 for even an 80k set. Some people don't know or don't care what they're selling, not realising the Bilsteins are rebuildable.

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon *(update 6/21!)

Ya, they're extremely rare. I watch eBay regularly and have only seen one or two set's for sale since I bought my set last summer. I'd say a set comes up for grabs once every 3-4 months.

I paid $350 shipped from elsanto which included all four struts, springs and top hats all assembled.
The new set I just picked up I got for $210 but only the struts. What a deal!

These new one's look great but I may contact Bilstein and inquire how much a rebuild would cost. If its not too much I may just do it.

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon *(update 6/21!)

Thanks for the tips guys. Now that you mention it I have seen yellow Bilsteins with springs and top hats on JHots listings for pretty dang cheap. Didn't realize they were GTB suspension. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. I've been wanting to do some AutoX with my Outback and retire my RS from AutoX duty but I didnt want to remove the suspension from my RS in the process.

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon *(update 6/21!)

Received some bad news today After taking my road trip up to Seattle I was noticing some steering wheel vibration on the highway. Today was my first day off and I took it to my tire shop & I have two bent rims!

I'm currently driving my "second car", a 1990 Audi V8Q until I can afford some new wheels. There goes a new windshield and the other $1k in parts I have waiting to install I'm pretty bummed about it, especially since my Rays lug nuts just arrived this afternoon!

I'm set on Prodrive P1's or Enkei RPF1's - both classic wheels

STOLEN!! From Capital Hill area of Seattle last night. Motherf'ers.... Keep your eyes peeled for the bilsteins, JDM projector headlights or WRX seats popping up for sale around that area. They are likely from my Sisters car.

ONE BIG ANGRY FACE FROM ME TO YOU

Didn't really think that this car would be something someone would steal, no offense. But really, usually people go for the turbo'd cars and all the gauge stuff inside... or something!
Really glad I just got an alarm system, GL finding it! Hoping whoever stole it gets what he/she has comin to em!

I work in Seattle, so I'll be sure to keep my eyes EXTRA peeled for anything suspicious. Best thing (short of getting your car back) would be to catch them selling something on CL. I've got an Colt M4 that says "gimme that s**t back"

....I wouldn't really resort to guns, I was just saying that to lighten mood a bit.

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon - update

    Hey Guys,

I owe the wagon an update. I've been daily driving the car again since January. The car was recovered from theft last August while I was overseas in Thailand. The police were thinking the car had been used for drug runs between Seattle & Tukwilla. It needed a new alternator, ignition, serious detail, and complete center console as they jacked up the stereo really bad when they ripped it out. My Sister sold (gifted) the car back to my family as she had recently purchased a new 2010 Outback sport and had no need for two cars for Herself. Her boyfriend had purchased my 350z track and it wasn't fit for them to keep three cars with minimal Seattle parking.
My turbo Legacy was going to need a lot of work that I didn't really want to put into it so I sold it and pretty much broke even for what I paid for it. I miss the power, but not the fuel mileage on premium with a turbo automatic.

My '95 wagon recently returned 30mpg on a tank! I think that was the first time ever in the 16+ years of ownership its hit 30mpg average for a tank. It just turned over 176K and is still running strong. Another big thing that happened was the car was the wagon was rear ended and totaled out in early December. We received nearly 3K for the car & got to keep it! I sourced a miscolored hatch on craigslist and the car lives on! Its not pretty by any means, but still runs & drives very well. I'd love to source a cheap set of 16" wheels with tires for it as the tires will be due for replacement before winter.

    Some pictures are overdue!

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon - update

    Hey Guys,
I have a {big} update on the old wagon. I recently moved back from Washington, DC to the pacific northwest & now reside in Seattle, WA. My brother recently permanently moved from Portland, OR to Japan. He had been the primary user of the wagon for the past ~2 years and left the car with my parents when he left the country. My dad graciously gifted me the car after they relocated to Boston, Mass. The wagon lives on! It's been stolen once, totaled (at least once) and been driven hard its entire life. I have piece by piece been restoring and modifying this car back to its original luster. This was the 1st car I ever drove which was now 13 years ago. Unfortunately my parents sold their house which I grew up in so this car is symbolic as a keep sake for me as it was purchased new by my Dad back in 1995. I don't ever want to sell it. I'm hoping that by July everything on the car is painted & installed. Here are some pictures I've taken in the past few months of parts I've accumulated. The car is in rough shape at the moment but already looks leaps better than when I got it back in January.

Special thanks goes out to Brad (Red85Celica) for all of his help.

This is my other car, a gorgeous 1988 BMW 325iS (e30) that I drove back from DC. I purchased it from the original owner. This is in December 2013 right before my parents sold their house. As you can see the car has a huge Pikachu sticker on the back that my brother stuck on there.

I polished the headlights with a kit from 3M as they were heavily oxidized and very yellow. I'm quite pleased with the result

    After:

Next I grabbed a ton of parts from Red85Celica from his partout of his old GT wagon. I grabbed the following: Silver rear bumper cover, GT rear bumper lip, GT side skirts, RFRB rear spoiler, Limited OB leather rear seats, door panels w. leather inserts, tweeters, '99 OB rear D pillar tweeters, cargo cover, wood grain trim, center console with rear cup holder, various clips and panels for the trunk, 16" GT wheels & more that I'm forgetting.

This is the worst of the dents. Looking to have this repaired in July 2014

Last pic with the 15" wheels (which are for sale for anyone interested)

    Installed:

Took care of the P/S valve cover gasket. Lots more maintenance items being addressed in a couple of weeks

In March I found someone selling on C/L a good pass. side door, front fender & D/S side door in matching quicksilver. This was huge. I didn't picture the door before I installed

    Install with Red85Celica

I plan to shadowline or blackout the rest of the chrome trim along the doors. This is the result:

Met up with Dead91Silvia and picked up a silver hatch from him
    Before:

    After:

Here are some of the other parts I have gathered so far:
    JDM smoked tails:

    '96 GT front bumper lip

    Glass projector fogs

    JDM Spats/Aero guards

JDM MOMO Woodgrain wheel (funny toilet shot)

    JDM Emerald L7 badge

Not pictured: Slim JDM door trim, front leather seats (all leather now). All the lips, skirts, door trim, door handles & mirrors will be painted to match. 17" B4 wheels coming this summer. I pick up a GT hood May 9th which will also be painted at the same time. Stay tuned for more big updates.

Also, let me know if anyone is interested in my GT-B Bilstein suspension set up in the next couple months. Enjoy

Re: Peugoby's 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon - Huge Update 4/30/14

Wow, that's awesome the wagon has stayed with your family since it was brand new! Seems like it going to be better than it ever was when you're done with it.
