    Custom interior **Updated 9/16/05**

Well this is just the beginning. I can only do so much a day, cuz the paint needs to dry and all.

Thursday I am going to paint the speaker grille red, then after that dries I plan to pull off that fabric stuff, and put red vinyl there with an embossed B4.

These are just the rear panels.... Thursday I also plan to paint the front door panels. The paint is a little wet still so they are glossier then what they will be when they dry....

wow, you've really outdone me, the only thing you need to watch out for is if the surface has a "PP-xxx" because that means Poly Propeline (sp??) and the paint doesn't stick so well, it tends to flake off. What I found that works best, is if you prime it first, then the paint won't flake off.

    Looks nice

Yeah I sanded all the plastic down first, then laid 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of black and 2 coats of clearcoat.

Only problem I had was a few bugs decided to land in the wet paint

The same rims I had on my car before. I am rocking the stock steel wheels right now because I am going to put winter tires on here one of these days.

After your done, reupholtering the seats in black leather with red leather inserts would be really nice.

Edit: Speaking of, if you wanted to do so, I believe LeatherSeats.com send you the stuff to do all the seats (you take the cloth cover off, then slip theirs on in it's place) and the door cards...just a thought, but this way everything would match. I think it runs around $600.

    Kidding!

I think it looks really nice actually, props for the creative effort! Like perdue said, it would look a little nicer being color matched but the way the colors flow and stuff, it still looks real good 8)

Well I plan on doing the door inserts in either red vinyl or red cloth. Need to go to the fabric store and figure it out. Then I am going to emboss the B4 logo on the doors.

Then I am going to get the carpet in black and I have some black floormats lined up with embossed B4 logos.

Also I am going to paint the A, B, and C pillars black and do my roof in the same fabric/vinyl as my door inserts. So when I am all finished, everything will be matching except the seats....

I will have to figure out what to do with those. The leather idea is good, but the only problem I have is, I don't like leather :?

I have have to figure something out.....

Looks nice, I woulda stuck with a matching blue instead of red so you wouldn't have to worry about the seats. If you still ahve the stockers, rock those for a wihle, sell your WRX seats and pick up the STI seats in black cloth and you'd be all set.

New update. It is a little dirty, but oh well.

Also I decided to wrap the B-pillars in vinyl due to the fact that the seat belts will hit them adn chip the paint very easily. Next I have to do the front door panels and possibly the dash piece above the glove box. That dash piece is wrapped in vinyl so I will have to re-wrap it.....

Yeah the chrome handles kinda suck, and they do reflect at times.

    Well HFS,
I must admit...I'm not one for painting on the interior (unless there are no other means of getting what you want for interior looks) but those door cards are SHARP!

For what its worth, leave the chrome handle. I personally don't like chrome, but when its used in small doses, it actually elevates the look....as it does in your situation.

In my honest opinion, its starting to look very JDM B4. I do have to agree though....the seat color will have to be addressed to match the doors.

You may not have to do leather.....get something similar to the blue fabric (in red of course) used on the STi seats. Its similar to suede, but called alacantra....and there is another product called ultrasuede that is similar as well. Not leather, but not fabric. I think replacing just the blue fabric blocks in your seats with this material in red would seal the deal!!!

Call Chip Foose....he may just hire you.

    Good stuff man!

i agree with the people who say address the seats. but the doors look very nice. i might have used matte black instead of gloss but thats me. i dont really like shiny stuff in my car. i dont even use armorall...

good stuff tho, ive been adding dark silver to my interior in small doses. maybe after the next installment ill post some pics

I have a couple things... sorry I came in so late on the thread

First off, looking good! I originally was skeptical of the red on black, but it looks good 8) I would have skipped the clear coat though and just done a flat black, clear hardens the paint up and can make it chip more (in my experience). Regardless, really clean job.

There is special paint you can get that actually dyes the vinyl and plastic, I used it when i was redoing the interior of my mustang. I got it out of a classic mustang catalogue, but theres no reason it wouldnt work on the armrest part of your doors or the plastic anywhere else. Nice thing is, it doesnt chip!

Also, beware of recovering your seats. I got new seat covers for the mustang, and even though it sounds so easy to do, IT ISNT. Its not much more expensive to take the covers to an auto upholstery place and have them do it. I had to pay a bit more because they had to fix my botched job of the passenger seat. Also get quality leather. I saw a WRX once with leather seats that looked terrible, they were a lighter blue and everywhere the leather broke in it left little cracks that werent dyed.
