    Thinking of going into AutoX'n

I'm thinking. I like to drive my car and would love to take a crack at a circuit once in my life to really test my skills. I drive back roads around my town afew times to keep me entertained

I dont like to keep doing back road runs because I'm either going to hit something/someone or get in trouble

I want to do autocross or some sort of Sanctioned Racing. Where I can learn how to really drive and grow as a driver and automotive enthusiast

    Help me please!

Anyone can take a look at how my car is setup - - - >HERE< - - - or on my sig

Please help me figure out where I can start in Autocrossing

Anyone from CT that does and want to help me start ?

    I appreciate everyone's comments

    ^_^

Find a local auto-x club in your area, see if they loan helmets, show up and tell them you're a rookie and want someone to teach you.

    Let the learning begin.

They will tech-inspect your car and put you in the class that you meet, based on your mods. This is where it gets crazy, because a lightweight hood for example can put you in a super-competitive class, whereas just upgrading your tires might not.

Nice to see some more people taking their Legacies out. It's looking to me like you'll be in STS. I think some body modifications are allowed as long as they don't increase perf. If not, most local clubs should be fairly leinant on the rules so long as it's only a minor infraction. You car also isn't fully prepped, but just go and remember the whole point is to have fun. Everyone there will be helpful and will get you started. Get lots of rides and ask people to ride along, almost everyone will oblige.

    Now start eatin' some cones!

In STS, there's quite a bit allowed. 7.5" wide wheels with 225 width rubber are the big thing. Check out the national rules, read them all, memorize them, as if you ever want to step it up and drive at nats/anything other than local you'll need a car thats at least 95% prepped as the rules will allow.

To start though, just drive what you own and have a blast. You'll be hooked soon enough.

Here's the link you need for all your questions:
    http://www.scca.org/contentpage.aspx?content=61

I can't stress it enough, just have a blast! It's not worth it simply being stressed over winning all the time.

They say Autocross is 15% car, 80% driver, and 5% luck.

www.myautoevents.com is where most of the clubs list their events. They have a search function with zip code too so you can find the closest events.

Only suggesting it because there may be other clubs besides SCCA in your area that holds events...here in Detroit for example there MSCC and Corvette club of Michigan that also hold autox's through out the season.

If you find an autox school, I would highly suggest going to that as much as possible. You'll get valuable seat-time- more than 3 times as you would on a regular autox.

Also, don't worry about being competitive in a certain class right now. Focus on your driving and improving your skills, and the faster times will come naturally; like in most motorsports throwing parts at a car won't necessarily make you faster.

Your rear sway bar would probably bump you up a class. You can't run stock class atleast, because of that mod. I haven't gone yet, but I know what cars mine should be able to keep up with speed wise, so even if they drop me into a certain class I'll be looking at equivalent cars to gauge how I'm doing.

Oh and he's saying your car is not prepped, like a full on race car. Some autocross setups can get pretty competitive and over the top. For example, a coworker of mine had a 480 horsepower evo that his dad and him autocrossed. I tried to find a good example, but a time attack car will have to do:

Yeah, I've seen some crazy time attack cars and would not mind doing just that. I might swap back to my stock sway if it's going to bump me into a different class. I don't mind running against them, but I would like to actually have a chance against everyone else. Right now my dreams of autoX'in hit a wall I have to get a new EJ25 because of bad HG.
