Weapon R - Secret weapon intake

I just ditched my DIY "Ganzflow " CAI for a Weapon R -secret weapon intake on my '03 outback wagon 2.5L N/A.

WOW! no low end loss! smoother throttle response , more power from 3K-6K, Awesome sound @ WOT!!! Better torque climbing hills at freeway speeds!

The instructions were pretty lame, needed a diagram really. I had to drill a hole for the IAT sensor with a step drill, I used the stock grommet from my factory airbox. Does have a cold air box option though.

Install was about an hour. Pain to route new blowby hose to left side valve cover + drilling IAT hole.

I picked it up new at Rallitek.com $244 pricey but worth every penny!!!
    Overall.......Schweet!!!

here's crappy pic of the system

I have purchased a Borla header so It will match nicely! WOOT!

I will post pics soon! yea ..yea TTITWOP!!!

You should went to Cobb and got their intake instead.

I trust Cobb much more then Weapon R, but thats cool you have a good experience with it.

Weapon R in my book is 1 step above APC.....

I've heard some negativity towards Weapon R also, but who knows if they really even made this intake, or just had it made by someone else and rebadged?

I almost bought the secret weapon this week. I went against it and went with a POS one for an experiment.

    weapon R

No K&N cone filter yet, maybe spring.

I find it hard to believe the negativity for Weapon R stuff "have you personally tried it and your results are......?

Rebadged"who cares" the intake works!!! I don't buy for a name , I buy what works!

oh, all I emant by that, is that they might've had a batch made by APC and rebadged it, and it might be junk, but what they make is good stuff...just a thought into our market economy, that's all.

    If it works, that great

i putted my custom CAI weapon r on....the only difference is better power near redline 5k til 6.5! loss a couple of pounds of torque in low end...but ok high end....now sticking with snorkle affect w/ airhog airfilter....way better low end and decent high end for about 40 bucks! don't waste 200 on an intake...get headers!

You had it dyno tested? How'd you know about a couple of lbs of torque loss?

Rallitek dynoed the intake and have posted their results @ rallitek.com
Also there is a nice article in the last Subiesport magazine about it as well. I've seen the project car in person.

I've been wrenching almost 20years and I know the results of a good intake /headers header setup.

So where are your dyno results for the airhog?

Wanna play you gotta pay..........$'s per hp gain

Kevin Thomas on Nasioc (N/A section) has done quite a bit of research and found ebay intakes are more than one would think.

    pics

here's few pics. One of the IAT sensor "had to drill a 3/4" hole with a step drill.
the other a side view and a front (out of focus)

I just caught up here... you paid $244 for an intake, and you still had to drill a hole for the IAT? Seems odd.

Yea I wasn't too happy about it (kinda universal kit) but it's done. However, the performance gain was worth it!!! :-D

So this intake should bolt up to the 2.2 as well right? From the looks of everything, the engines look identical, unless I am missing something?

I suppose it could, but you would have to make a MAF adapter (since his engine is MAP controlled)

Yeah that is a big problem with intakes for our cars. It really isnt going to give you too much of a performance gain being that is sucking in hot air from inside the engine bay.
    Peace,
    Kyle

I got my intake today, I plan on doing the same setup as slip. Maybe this summer I will get the Injen CAI. Once I get it back from the shop and when the weather clreas up I will hook it up.

Now if im able to put a WRX engine into my Legacy then I would think that this would work in a Legacy a ARC Induction Box

ARC has developed it’s own unique version of Induction and Intake Chmaber. The Intake Chamber helps raise the torque at low and mid range engine speeds and is also effective in improving accelerating speed.

The Induction box reduces intake resistance and increasing the amount of air taken in makes higher pressure possible. In addition, by trapping the air, it retains the appropriate amount of air inside and is effective in improving accelerating response.
When these 2 items are used together, it will improve torque and accelerating response throughout the RPM ranges.
The only thing is these sell for around $320

You mean a MAF? I'm pretty sure the EJ22t is a MAF, not a MAP. I think the MAP was first used on PhaseII EJ25s...

Is there anything out there for a 95 Stationwagon L ?

Or will the newer car's intake work for the older ones?

I would like to bump up the power on my wife's Subaru but
only want the simple boltons..intake, header, exhaust...
Everything Ive seen so far are for the newer Legacies..
