Xbox Silver = anyone with a 360 and an internet connection. Can download items from marketplace, message people and receive gifts in-game, still activates gamerscore etc. CANNOT PLAY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE

Xbox Gold = all of the above + ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. You need a subscription card to do this - usually activates 2 days (free cards with new consoles) 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. 12 months is obviously the best value. All you do is plug your Xbox into your router/modem, connect to Xbox Live, enter in your subscription code and you're good to game online.

You can actually set it up on your xbox to automatically charge a card or whatever for your service. I was going monthly at like 7.99/month, but I ended up buying a year service for $50. Not bad all things considered. I get a lot fewer problems with connections and such on 360 Live than I did with PS2, but the service on PS2 was free.

    chuck: PM sent.

Everyone who has Import Tuner, Test Drive Unlimited, or Forza Motorsport 2: I'm thinking about setting up some kind of informal get-together schedule and circulating it like crazy so that people know that there will be folks online playing these games. I know that it's been asked before, but what's everyone's availability? I'm usually on in the evening between 9-11 or so on most evenings, with the exception of weekends.

I was thinking about having something going on with Forza or TDU going on once a week on Mondays or Wednesdays, if everyone is cool with that.

    Any takers?

Gamestop, Microcenter, EBGames, ebay has them too.
If you're buying used, I would avoid any units that have a silver CD tray - these were commonly version 1-2 and were more prone to overheating and dying. I have a model from Christmas last year and have done several 8hour gaming sessions without any overheating issues.

If you are going to go used, why not just buy a refurbed item (Gamestop/EB Games/Microcenter have them for $180)...at least then you'll get a warranty
    http://www.gamestop.com/Browse/Search.aspx?N=133+196
    http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ ... id=0290267

The Microcenter version comes with a 20Gig drive already installed. You'd only have to spend $50 more dollars + whatever game to get online and gaming. Under $300 for your COD4 pleasure.

OT, my 20gig HD arrived today. WOOHOO!

I'm getting one with a Falcon chipset, HDMI hook up an 20GB HD. What I read the Falcon chipset is from the later versions and run cooler.

Yep, that's correct. You'll essentially have what I have then. I bought an Arcade pack w/out HDD, but it came with an HDMI hookup. Now I have a 20GB HDD. I still lack the HDTV though!

That'd be pretty cool, but I work every third day for 24hrs and I don't bring my 360 to work. I tried something similar on Forza 2 before...small group of people, everyone get the same car and modify it to a certain level (Spec B, C, A, whatever) and then do a series race with'em. It worked for a little while...made for some interesting races and setups.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, though I vote for different cars at the same performance level (within reason).

No problem... Wednesday doesn't have to be the day, and frankly I'm starting to like the idea of Mondays for game night.

Unless anyone else wants to offer a suggestion for a day (with the exception of the weekends), sounds to me like Monday may take the cake.

I'll probably be doing Test Drive unlimited as well and Import Tuner Challenge. Whether or not I'll play those two the same night as well or on another evening is debatable.

    Thoughts?

Okay, I've thought about this in my head, and two days of the week qualify for Xbox LIVE play for me: Monday and Tuesday.

What times work best for people on these two days? I might be able to go online between 9-11pm on Mondays, and something similar for Tuesdays.

If we do Monday AND Tuesday, then Mondays would probably be Forza 2 only, and then Tuesdays would be Test Drive Unlimited/Import Tuner Challenge depending on the number of people that show.

I could do a couple hours on monday nights, but i'd still miss every third, but that's cool. I might play some Forza 2 tonight...dunno. Depends on how class goes and how sober I stay.

All right then. Time to start thinking about options.

I don't have a whole bunch of xbox live experience yet, but I do know that you can have private chats online. Does anyone know if you can private chat with a group of people? (That way you don't wind up losing them when you go between screens in Forza 2.)

I'll ask the Forza 2 staff some questions about get-togethers shortly. Same thing with TDU and Import Tuner. Stay tuned...

I'm pretty sure you can setup a race lobby and invite in so many people (8 maybe?) and talk with multiple people there, as well as during the race and maybe even during the load screen IIRC. You cannot have a private chat with multiple people though...only two party.

Okay, so it's pretty much settled that this Monday will be the first major test... I'm going to log on and set up a room for us for Forza 2 Monday evening/night.

The question remains: when will everyone be available?

I can start Monday night at 6 or 7pm, or if that's too late, I can start at 9:30 or 10:30. I don't own the post, so I can't set up a vote, but let me know what you want!

(Oh by the way, just to make sure people go online Monday night, I plan on posting this up on pretty much every forum I go to as well.)

This Monday is just a test, and to meet you all and see what you think about this as a possible future get-together on a weekly basis. I'll be taking suggestions and calling the shots for restrictions, car classes, etc.

It's not a good hobby for you. You should be playing more x Box. And I'm getting ready for a Halloween party that you will not be attending to either

Single-player action with the VIS Accura Integra. I'm looking forward to this Monday. Time will be 7pm eastern for the test run.

It's most likely going to be a test run with B and A class cars. Classes will be enforced, these will be single exhibition races, and I will most likely be bringing out at least one Subaru on track.

...and I'll probably start posting this on other boards I go to online as well. See you soon! Look for an Exhibition room with tag Ryu Haneda.

No problem. Monday is our first test run, and the official time will be 9pm to 10pm eastern. Bring your A and B game

I'm still up in the air about Tuesday, but the same time will probably apply. If Tuesday is done, we will run another test run (classes to be determined).
