It actually takes less time. If you see a thread in a sub-forum you don't want to participate in, don't click on it. I'm pretty sure that takes the brain about a nanosecond to decide.

    I missed this from earlier.
That's RICH calling someone's hobby "STUPIDITY".

I don't know what hobbies you have but how would you feel if a majority voted for something you're interested in and someone called your interest stupid?

    Way to make friends!

Frankly, it's another way for SL-i to offer something to people who are not necessarily Subaru zealots, and it gives us an avenue to retain members after they've sold their vehicles.

It's an extension of the personalities here.
If we had a group of people interested in double-stitch sewing we'd probably have a forum dedicated to arts and crafts!

ooooo an art and crafts section! Good call Roger!

No matter how much I like my car I can only talk about it, Subars and cars in general for so long. This gives some of us a chance to engage in another common interest some of us have. Shit if you hobby (if you have one) is popular and it can be down online or some sort of meets tell us. Maybe theres more here and you can get your own little patch of goodness.

I am not a "gamer" I just started playing video games again about a month ago. Before then I haven't played any for 10 years unless a new Madden came out for PS2. I got sucked back in because of the amount people on here play and my personal friends.

You honestly think I'd give a shit what someone else thinks? It's not like anyone else's opinions of my hobbies affect my enjoyment of them. Just like my opinion doesn't affect anyone else's enjoyment of their hobbies. And, if it does, they've got bigger problems.

And forgive me for thinking a Subaru forum should be focused on talking about Subarus. Why don't we add an arts and crafts section, a gun section, a politics section, a religion section, and whatever else it takes to run this place completely into the ground?

Well we can piss and moan about how this forum will be ran into the ground all we want, if it's going to happen it's going to happen. Doing what one person wants is a little illogical.

Wait, isn't the gamer section in off topic, as in non-Subaru stuff anyway? It is? Huh, funny.

I guess this is the only forum with an off topic section too anyways. What? Almost every forum on the net has an off topic section? Really?

    Wow.

+10 on arts and crafts...that'll help me feel more at home with my gheyness.

Seriously though, IV, the more and more you complain and throw your internet thug attitude around, the more I question whether I'd actually want you here to begin with. Check yourself. Coming off with such an attitude is in no way constructive and is not going to help you get what you want.

Well Perdue, Reason pretty much said F you, from the beginning, so I had long ago given up hope on him actually looking into the possibility of making the simple change. You can rant about my attitude, but I'm seeing the same attitudes from people here.

What I asked for originally. A way to make it not show up on the "new posts" link. Is it possible on this software? I don't know. Even if it is, do you know how to do it? I don't know. Obviously, this would probably be best as an option, so those that do want to see the section can see it.

I'm sure there's ways to make entire forums visible/not visible to certain groups of members. You probably have a "moderators" forum that only they can see exists.

I'm not sure if there's a way to do what I asked above, which is why I originally asked "Can you at least make it not show up in the "new posts" so those of us who have no interest don't even have to see it?"

If you'd have said "I don't know how to do that, but I'll look into it" or "I don't think it's possible, but I'll look into it" I'd have said "Ok, thanks for looking into it". Instead, I got the impression of "Piss off, it's here deal with it".

I do have my own hobbies, and they have their own forums. As illogical as it apparently sounds to some, I go to those forums to discuss them.

ZM the whole forum is an arguing section of late. Maybe it's time to put the hammer down again.

Ok then, lets just delete the OffTopic section, and any reference to non-Subaru related material we'll just delete, hmm?

Last time I checked, even Subaru's publications had things in them that didn't specifically relate to Subaru's, but related to a "Subaru enthusiast" lifestyle.

ZOMG. The X-games features Subarus. Are we allowed to post about the skateboarding at the X-games? Only if they have AWD, right?

Yeah, I'm arguing, because your exclusionist attitude bites.

Your opinion, you're entitled to it, just like I'm entitled to mine. Reason has said he'll look into my request, that's good enough for me, I'm not going to argue further on the subject.
