You'd need a complete rear axle setup too.

You might want to check out bbs.legacycentral.org

It'd be cheaper to sell yours and get one with awd.

that site should help a little. you also might want to ask legacy777 over on bbs.legacycentral.org...

depending on how you buy all your parts, buying another car with awd may not be less expensive...

i would research all your options first and then determine which is the best route to go

To the author of this post... no it wont be cheaper to sell yours and buy an awd... no one want's a fwd subaru.

I myself have done the full conversion, so if you need some help i can refer you to a website with the whole speal... or you can email me or whatever, i'd be glad to help you out.

the tranny mounts on the awd tranny will bolt right up to your body, you do NOT have to drill any holes at all, your shell has every hole you need to do the conversion.

and also, when i did my swap, i bought a "parts car" a wrecked wagon (front hit) from someone who took the motor out of it when he got it... he bought it from copart...

the BEST route to go if you want to do this would be to just look for any legacy's with a bad motor or non runner... as long as the tranny and everything else is good... then just swap everything to your car, unless ofcourse the parts car has a good body, then just put your motor in it and transfer the title... but a wrecked one would be cheaper... i paid $430.00 for mine.

By the time you factor in your time spent sourcing parts, and doing the swap, if you value your time at all, it'll be cheaper to just buy an AWD 5MT vehicle than to do this swap. Don't forget you also have all the old parts to get rid of, that likely nobody wants. I would imagine, however that this is a more straightforward swap than some of the engine swaps that guys do, but those are usually a case of getting something that can't be bought.

I agree. Getting stranded without parts to make the car move can also be very inconvenient. Time is money, keep that in mind.

what might also be a good idea, is getting a new clutch release bearing, and pilot bearing... also, new clutch kit even... would be wise, there's no telling how badly of a driver the previous owner was.
