And yesterday I change the oil in the wagon. Today I washed the 3.0R. First time in months they have been clean at the same time.

Front and rear with Akebono ProACT Ceramic pads. I was forced to order (4) Continental ExtremeContact DWS after I found a gash in one of the tires inner side while doing the brakes on the lift.

Installed cheap urethane front sway bushings and stock type end links to silence a front end rattle. Successful!
Bolted a 22" LED bar on top of the bumper, partly sunk into the trimmed grille.
1400 lumen LED reverse lights and red LED 1157 replacement tail/brake bulbs installed, the reverse lights REALLY light up the garage at night backing it in.
Also recently put in a Whiteline 20mm rear sway bar, they seem to be recently discontinued so I got one before remaining stock dries up.
Recently replaced the valve cover gaskets too, oil leaks seem to be completely gone.
Bought rear brake pads yesterday but it's really cold out. Will install after work this week.

The rear sway bar is not discontinued.<edit

Replaced rear brake pads on the BH yesterday.

Installed Whiteline void filler type diff. bushing inserts on the BH just a few minutes ago. The rear diff. doesn't thump anymore!

6 weeks later, Finally got the paper work from the lien department after fighting with the bank. Need to make time to head to my local MVA (DMV) to get the clean title for the Subi.

Weather is warming up so the Subi is my daily driver again. The heater doesn't work well so the inside of the windshield freezes when the defroster is on. Going to flush the heater core this summer.

Went to Dairy Queen for dinner and put a blizzard in my 2nd gen cup holder. Went surprisingly well - only a small amount of ice cream dripped into the cup holder. Removed and cleaned the cup holder and all is ok again. I installed the rear driver side door panel I scavenged last fall and I finally cleaned the front driver side panel because I am a lazy ass. Maybe I will install it tomorrow, maybe I will sit on it for another two months.

Got to test the brakes this morning on my '96 Outback as a Great Horned Owl attempted to commit suicide on my windshield. If you've never seen one, they're an impressive sight and big enough to carry off an adult cat. Happily it was a miss but this reminded me that I need new front pads.

Door panels are/have been in. Had issues with the seat belts not retracting so I sanded down the area where the plastic trim pieces were pinching the belt. Work like a charm now.

Came home to find some antifreeze at the end of my driveway. Wasn't any of my cars, wasn't near any of them. Walked up my driveway, turned around to look at it again and saw a 2nd gen wagon hatch sitting just inside of my fence. They guy I sold my parts car to said that he would look around to see if he had a center light for me. I figured I would buy it from him. Nope, got a whole rear hatch. Even has the rear spoiler!

I took the 3.0R to cars and coffee this morning. This afternoon I took the wagon to run some errands. I notice the muffler seemed to be hanging a bit low. Sure enough 3 rubber hangers had dry rotted and ripped. I was able to get the car home by using zipties to hold the muffler up. Luckily I had some rubber hangers in the garage so its fixed.

Used some leather conditioner on my seats. I didn't realize how long it had been since the last time I used it. Seats look great now. I should be picking up a set of rims and tires this weekend from a parted out legacy. I can get those rusted up steel rims off my car now.

Yeah, no, it's the Impreza. My wife loves her Tribeca and it's almost paid off, so we're not getting rid of that one.

I changed out my tires, but that is nothing compared to what I saw while checking out garage sales this weekend.

I asked the woman if I could take a picture, she said she didn't care and that her husband would be out shortly. I took the picture and then heard, "You like it that much?" Husband came up and told me that one day he decided to chop, so he did.

I used to sell Hondas and they came with a full tank of gas. I sold an Odyssey van to a women who brought it back the next day with two complaints. First, we didn't fill it and secondly, she took it to two gas stations and she couldn't get any gas to go into the tank but the gas gauge was still reading low. I walked out and found a maxed out fuel gauge. Turned out she had been looking at the temp gauge the whole time. What makes the story funny is that she was an anesthesiologist.

Spent two weeks in Georgia. Got back to find that a tree dripped all over the car. I guess I have to clean it. Oh darn...

    I needed an excuse anyways.

    I did a thing!

I'm sorry for being a lurker most of the time but I finally grew a pair and did something major with my Legacy.

After getting the head gasket done, the timing belt guide was not spaced correctly and promptly killed the tensioner pulley. So this past Saturday I did a timing belt and pulley job all by myself (first time ever doing a timing belt). Feeling ambitious, I tried to replace my shifter linkage as well with the TurnInConcepts unit. Couldn't pop the second (larger) pin out and it was 11:30 at night, so I buttoned it back up and called it a night.

I rotated my tires on Sunday, and then reinstalled the timing belt inspection cover today.

I'm on a roll now... Friday, I got a 1/4" punch and was able to knock the larger roll pin out for the shifter linkage (I named the 2 roll pins bastard 1 and 2), the second big struggle was getting the 6 mm allen bolt threaded on the other end of the shifter linkage. After an hour long struggle, it finally went in. I tried to install the Perrin polyurethane shifter bushings, but was unable to wrestle the old one out (I thought it was 2 pieces like the Perrin kit). It was nearly 1 AM so I figured I should give it up and stop disrupting the neighbors.

    Old busted and new hotness

    The bastards

    The wrenching position:

Today I installed a Perrin short shift adapter that I got for Christmas last year. Install wasn't terrible aside from the adapter sitting snug on the shift lever. After installation, it felt right, but after driving for a while, the ball came out of the socket while on the freeway. That was a bit scary, pulled over, took the bezel off looks like the ball did not fully seat into the socket, pounded it back on and all was good on the remainder of a 120 mile trip.
