I have 2 weeks till I move into my new house, and the renovations are going along GREAT thanks to some wonderful family, friends and friendly tradespeople. I had a bathroom remodel done (due to mold be prevalent throughout and the wrong kind of drywall being utilized during construction), several rooms stripped of 20yr wallpaper and repainted, new carpet... my back is killing me, I am running on 5hrs sleep a night but things are going GREAT.

If u didnt already know i work at valvoline and you wont belive the people we get in there. some with flat tires we plugfor free and they give us 20 bucks and other with blow diffs that we take shalfs off and let them run on front only and they say nothing and leave. best ones are when the "super cars" come in and get the cheapest oil lol lambos, high end muscle cars and some time even GT-R's lol you can afford the car but not the oil change!! lol

Re: Good things that have happened to you?

i couldnt find the good thing that happened to him out of that story ^

a good thing that happened to me was, when i was 15, an old man gave me his old 89 corolla as a first car (fwd, auto, 1.6 or something) for free! it was good to learn how to drive on a old car first...

Re: Good things that have happened to you?

i went to a body shop, well i guess it was yesterday now, and inquired about some touch up paint, they told me it would be $5 for the bottle and i said thats fine. the guy gets done mixing the paint, and i go to pay and in front of the owner of the shop he said don't worry about it. so i got a bottle of touch up paint for free. it is probably because my family are repeat customers to that body shop.

Re: Good things that have happened to you?

There was an old couple that was in the parking lot next to my car... when I was about to sit in my car, I overheard the lady saying "I dont get it, we just picked it up from the dealer".. so I asked if I could be of any help.. she just said the car wont start.. so I turned the key, all the dash lights came on but would not start.. not even the tickin from a dead battery.. took me a couple of minutes but figured it out.. It was the ground switch for the starter, the plug was broken.. I held the wire to create contact and I had her turn the car on... Wala, told her to drive straight to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

    Felt good

Re: Good things that have happened to you?

It was last weekend to Tuesday but I drove down to Kalama Wa from Port Angeles and back on a bad left front wheel bearing and nothing went wrong. The bearing still hasn't frozen either but I'm geting ready to replace it. I'm not sure if mine really counts as a good thing but it does to me because if the bearing had frozen on I-5, with the flow being 85mph, I probably wouldn't be typing this post... So I guess it is a good thing.

within the last couple of years the wheel bearing in my brothers 07 impreza went bad and the wheel would actually wobbel while you were driving it. they drove it like that for a good couple of months and drive it from seattle to portland and back home to the dalles and then drive back to seattle a few times all while commuting daily to work, before we had it fixed.

I started school with a major in Computer Science, in a chance meeting with my neighbor I told him my interest in the IT field. By the next Thursday I had a job with Amazon.com! It's gonna be nice to do something I want to do and not come home smelling like some sort of oil or grease or both.

Re: Good things that have happened to you?

Wow 3 years later and I just notice this thread..

So lets start... since I joined SLi eon's ago I set out to do 2 things.

    1) Make a build thead
    2) Help anyone who needs info/help/parts/ideas.

Numerous members have messaged me over the last few years and have thanked me for various things and most offered items like Beer, money, services, and sometimes custom pieces of art work.

I tell everyone there is no need this is what I am here for. Also once they relies I am in Canada they are quick to retract any offers :-D

But anyways besides helping people on SLi/TSC my best moment was dealing with Ericem (RIP BC). I was in a bind when I lost my last BD and I needed a bunch of stock OEM parts. Eric dropped by helped me install what I needed and even gave me a spot till I was able to meet up and pay him. Ever since I have the up most respect for members like this who are willing to take time out of their life to help someone and yet trust them with only a few hours of interaction.

More "civilian-esk" helpings is the common "returning someones wallet" this has happened to me twice and I have returned the favor for other random people several times.

There is nothing more comforting then receiving your wallet in the mail with all credit cards and cash!!! CASH!!!!!!

    -Chuck

I basically give away most of my suby parts or at least dont charge much for them, just to see more subaru on the road. and when I work on subarus for peopl I charge $30 an hour and often times put on new parts I have lying around for free. one of my customers had many large dents in the fender and door so I took it apart and fixed the dents for free. I just love subarus not people
if I wanted to lower my car I'd have gotten a GT!

Re: Good things that have happened to you?

r3v_v3ng3 sent me a Rota center cap for free after i had mentioned i lost mine! Even though it turned out to not be the right one, its the thought that counts and im still extremely great-full. He didn't have to do it and did it anyway and for free at that. So if anyone needs a Rota cap with just the big R on it, i'll gladly ship it to you for free like he did to me!

I've been here a long time, and its nice to see that even though the forum has grown a ton, the good nature its always had is just as strong if not stronger than when it started.

What good things have happened to me? Not much except this forum. I received such an enormous amount of support from you guys when I needed it the most and I'm forever grateful. In dark times, the people on this forum have shown me such compassion it's really changed my outlook on things and I'm proud to be part of such a community.
